Re: Wondering if I should get Cut3D or Vcarve pro?

Welcome.

That file is created with a trial version of the software so only you (or Vectric) can open it.

Could you post a screenshot instead?

Re: Generic Vector Data - Import

The easiest one to use would be the DXF (http://images.autodesk.com/adsk/files/acad_dxf0.pdf) file format. There are lots of examples of converting to it from point data such as you have on the 'net.

Google for "CSV to DXF" as that's probably the most common one.

Re: Lithophane Raster Lines

How do you know that background is solid black? What the eye sees isn't the same as what a program sees. I expect there are some variations of shade.

Re: DFX file problems

I'm presuming you're not really using a piece of material 600in x 400in? Your problem may simply be a resolution issue with the preview with such a large material area compared to the size of the part. I reduced the material size and down and it all looked ok with a profile toolpath. The vectors loo...

Re: How to make corrections or delete toolpath after preview

Welcome. If you want to change the type of a toolpath completely (from profile to pocket) then you will have to delete the toolpath and create a new one. If you want to change some details of an existing toolpath then you can edit it by double clicking on it in the list or highlighting it and clicki...

Re: Lining things up.

Look at the Array Copy (Block Copy) tool on page 75 (v6.5) of the Help. That will do exactly what you're looking for.

Re: Spindle ?

8 amp seems very low for a 2hp spindle on 230v. My 2.2hp one needs a 20 amp connection and a friend of mine has a Chinese 2hp one that we had to hook up to a 16 amp breaker.

Re: Spindle ?

Is there a display on the front of the inverter? If there isn't a setting to directly display RPM's it should display the frequency and you should be able to calculate the RPM from there.

Re: How to locate workpiece on material as I like ?

Usually you would do that in your control software (Mach3 etc) not in Cut2D. You can either move the machine to where you want to start and set the XY zero to that position and cut as normal. Or (if your control software supports it) set it to offset mode so it treats the current position as the XY ...

Don't forget that Vectric is a UK based company. You're not likely (although it has been known!) to get replies in the small hours of the morning.

Re: True Type or Single Line?

It only works with True Type fonts as far as I know as it needs a closed vector which the single line fonts aren't.

Re: creating new tool lists

If you mean the drop down list that appears when adding a new tool then no that can't be added to.

I'm not sure why you would want to as you can call the actual tool anything you want so I might be misunderstanding the question.

Be careful when making moulds that you're not breaching the license agreement for the 3D files you're using.

Re: Laser Control

Have you looked at the Post Processor editing guide on the VCarve Help menu? I don't know what actual commands you would need to control the laser but the guide will explain how and where to add them.
