Re: A bit about bits
I am going out on a limb here. This is my theory - I don't have time to test it right now. First - i agree the linked thread is not a fair comparison. That is a different scenerio. NOW - in actuality they both DO go to .020 deep. I posted the code for both and looked at the code and they both go to...

Re: engraving with diamond bit
Once you get suitable vectors, imported e.g. EPS, drawn or bitmap trace, use either "profile on" as mentioned or the "quick engrave" feature, both will create toolpaths for the open vectors

Re: VCP8.5 with a mill
Assuming you have minimal backlash and steps per unit is calibrated correctly you will probably need to rough machine more critical parts such as bearing bore pockets undersize or oversize depending on desired slip or press fit and achieve final accuracy by using a series of very light finish passes...

Re: VCP8.5 with a mill
So I tried a search to see if this has already been asked a few dozen times, did not see any close matches so here goes. I know Vcarve is based around cutting wood signs and general CNC woodworking. Has anyone used it on designs that would be machined from metal on a mill and not a router? I've alr...

Re: Nose Dive
Leo, Does any of this account for the collet hitting work assuming there is no hole in blank and the cutter had sufficient stick out? I also generally profile from top of work with 3d models (air cut), of course I'm one of the few with a Z- limit switch adjusted slightly below work, saved me from hu...

Re: Source for dust boot brush strip
The easy cut brush with the #1 holder work great, inexpensive and available in 1-3"
If you make a couple magnetic bases using 1" and 3" length, they will accommodate most length cutters

I might be mistaken but if I look at this video, it seems that these guys engrave on glass with a “normal” 60 Deg V bit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLJcoPtGlbA Agree with your    ... sounds barbaric .. and ya probably shouldn't breath the dust :? Re: Guitar Neck Heel Question
I am still looking for a model of the back of a guitar neck that I can use on a three string cigar box guitar neck. Any help would be great. Type in Cigar Box Guitar and the search bar. Lots of info as of late and a wealth of knowledge as well. Looking at your original post, a one piece body and in...
