Re: Rookie question

Thanks guys, I think saving each toolpath for an individual tool will be easiest for me and the tips helped me out a lot because I will need to change bits on several things I want to make and as a home woodworker, I cant afford a high end machine. The Shark seems to fit my needs and I am not a comp...

I am going to have to clean up the bitmap image some to get rid of some junk that it traced which shouldnt be too hard, the ...

up and running!

Everything came in today, got the CNC Shark put together and that was pretty easy, only thing that I see that I will need to do is work on leveling the top as it does have a bow in the middle. Software was a little bit more of a challenge, I bought a laptop to run this with and it has Vista, the ins...

Re: vcarve bit settings

Thanks for the reply, I did use the new tool button and then it prompts you for a tool type, you can select a new v bit or or ball nose, but an end mill is not in the drop down menu, which doesnt make since because it is a common profile, so I cant figure out another way to add it

vcarve bit settings

Have my CNC Shark ordered and have been playing with the V-Carve 5 trial download and have learned a whole bunch the last week on how to use it, seems comfortable now. I ordered the collet set and some bits to get me started from presicebits.com for the colt router so I can use both 1/4 and 1/8 bits...

Re: new guy needs some help

I ordered my CNC Shark today and it should be here next week, I figured out the V-carve 5 enough to know I can make it do what I want and thanks to a lot of help have figured out .jpg and bitmap importing. May sound like a stupid question but I have not used the spiral bits before, which I will be u...

Re: new guy needs some help

Wow, I didnt expect so many replys this quickly, helps a whole bunch. I will have to look at the Aspire program as it looks like it is the way to go. I didnt plan on the carveright system at all, I think it is a good idea but from reading up on comments its a 50/50 split on comments, you either love...

new guy needs some help

I am looking at buying the CNC Shark that Rockler has, I downloaded the V-carve trial software and it seems fairly simply. The only prior experience I have with cad programs are the ones made for Police to draw accident scenes. What I am wanting to do with this is the same thing I have been doing by...
