Re: cutting order

Th automatic ordering in Aspire (or other Vectric programs) can't account for and get right every possible configuration. Since you are manually selecting the vectors for the toolpath I'd suggest the following: select all the horizontally aligned pieces on the left side of the job (from bottom to to...

Re: Plunge speed below material on 3d carves

Also, what toolpath are you referring to by "carve": roughing or finishing?

If roughing: z-level or raster?

Re: Understanding Model Position in Material

You probably are missing something. The radio buttons select whether the gap is at the top or bottom of the material. The slider moves the model within the material. Do note, however, that gaps are immaterial if there is no 3D model present (i.e. you only hav 2D vectors and are only making 2D toolpa...

Re: install new tool (roman ogee)

Not knowing what you’ve tried its difficult to say. For any tool that doesn’t match one of the pictures of the predefined types (e.g. not a drill, not an endmill, etc.) you’re left with defining a form tool. And as with most things it’s described in the help system (scroll to the end of the linked p...

Re: 1/16 Tapered Ball Nose Settings

I'm not sure where to start here. Does the tool shank really look like it's 5/8"? Does the ball diameter look like 1.6 inches? I suspect the tool you have is this one from Amana Tools. If so, the 0.8 at the Amazon link is 0.8mm (~= 0.03 inches—i.e., a 1/32" radius). The rest is comparing the VCarve ...

VCarve Pro files are compatible with VCarve Desktop.. It's Aspire files that are not compatible with VCarve anything.

Re: Considering Vcarve

For Solidworks you can extract the necessary 2D curves (vectors in Vectric parlance) by making a plan view drawing (.SLDDRW)—use an empty template, not one with information boxes, etc. Then export the result as a DWG file. Beware though that I have found that even if you tell Soldiworks to keep clos...

Re: Rim around my model

I haven't had a chance to look at the file but I would suspect that if you click on Material Setup in the toolpath sidebar you'll find a gap above the model. Make that zero in all should be better.

You might need to add a ubiquitous "zero plane" to make the edge cut smoothly.

Or you could keep the smaller stepover and use the "Spiral Gadget" and a profile toolpath instead of a pocket toolpath. Gadget download link.

Re: Enlarge screen view

Perhaps a screen shot of what you consider to be poor details might help us. Windows has a built-in snipping tool for taking screenshots and saving the image to a file. You can even draw highlights and annotations. The saved image file (png or jpg) can be uploaded as an attachment here. https://yout...

Good question. I suspect that unless you have a really specific problem and are directed to set it by support that it's an option you can safely ignore.

...square one.

It is possibly a stupid question but can I just add it to the End Mill category and record it's tool type as End Mill...
Effectively the tool is a "square one" and as such an "end mill" is the tool type.
