Re: I finally got my online store going

You need to show what they look like mounted and some variety in what is carved in for the design. Even if I like your handle, I probably wouldn't want that design. You could just use vcarve to generate a preview of different designs. Personalizing would be even better as mentioned already. Have yo...

Re: Hand mirrors

Thanks Bud! My pleasure. Nice to be able to give back to this forum. The mirrors were a great hit at Christmas. I've made 11 so far and had to order more mirrors in order to be able to do more. As suggested, I routed out a pocket in a piece of scrap wood that holds the mirror while I carve the back...

Re: Hand mirrors

Nice work Bud I will have to give this a go for my granddaughters birthday. She will be 5 in March, and I'm sure she will remember it forever :) Don Don,, Here is my first try for a file upload. This is for the back side to be carved. You will obviously need to set thickness dimensions to your stock.

Re: Gallery Of Machines

Ever since I bought my CNC last winter, I wanted to upgrade the bed. I've been using 2 layers of 3/4 MDF. Had to route channels to put in T track so I could use hold downs on the work. Bought some 3/4 X 3 80/20 aluminum extrusions. Took off the old bed, cut the new pieces to length. Then wanted to g...

Re: What bits cut aluminum?

Aluminum is my primary material. I usually use a Belin brand bit, #13635. 1/4" shank, 1/4" cutting width, 3/4" blade length. I always use a cooling or misting agent when cutting aluminum. The speed is determined by the thickness of the material. 1/8" thick, I run at 45 IPM. 1/16", I go 70. Quarter ...

Re: What bits cut aluminum?

Bits should be 2 or 3 flute - not 4 flute. RPM can be high, but it could weld the aluminum chips to the cutter. Could be 1000 RPM or 25000 RPM Feedrate can be 200 IPM, or as low as 10 IPM If you can get a mist coolant going, that would be a benefit. If your machine can handle it - you can cut prett...

Re: Missed day 1 of Advent Calendar.

The vector art is available to everybody at the same time. A calendar day runs from 00:00 - 23:59 GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) - we've put a live clock on the calendar page which is hopefully of some help. Stu It doesn't seem to actually work that way. Since I'm in the eastern time zone, I should be a...
