Re: Profile Toolpath - Allowance offset

This was copied from the help file: Allowance offset An Allowance can be specified to either Overcut (negative number will cut smaller) or Undercut (positive numbers will cut larger) the selected shape. If the Allowance = 0 then the toolpaths will machine to the exact size. Click on the question mar...

Spiral rewind

I'm doing a rotary 3d project with a continuous spiral toolpath along with two additional toolpaths. One of which is v-carved lettering. All toolpaths are saved to one file. It makes about 15K revolutions for the spiral and then, after the tool change, the spindle moves into position for the next cu...

Re: FREE Project - Steve Nelson - Pen & Pencil Box

The font I used was "Script Mt Bold". When I use a v-carve toolpath on lettering I like to convert the text to vectors and do a little editing and trimming so the letters carve a little smoother.

Re: Rotary G code

Also, can the gadget be used for cutting a 3D toolpath (Project toolpath onto 3D model) or just for rounding?

Wow, Jim. At least for me, this is one the best gadgets you have done. Will the gadget generate the diagonal line for the toolpath?

Re: coved handle in a box end

As I mentioned in the video, using a flat bottom endmill will produce rigdes as shown in the pic. If the slope was completely flat then an endmill would be the best choice. Also, make sure you select the "Smooth" option instead of "Linear". The "Linear" option will produce a seam in the middle of th...

Here is a link to a short video on how I created the finger recess using the fluting toolpath.

Re: coved handle in a box end

If you are looking for an exact match then the fluting toolpath is probably your best bet as shown in the top example. Unless, as Randall mentioned, you want the undercut for the fingers. If you are going for just a simple finger lift then the moulding toolpath will probably be the best choice. Show...

Also, you want to keep in mind that you cannot join the endpoint of a vector to the middle of another vector. You can only join end point to end point.

Re: Different start depth on a pocket cut using same path results in larger cutout

You have a pocket allowance of .05" set on the rough toolpath so it will leave .05" for the finishing toolpath to remove. This is taken from the help filel: Pocket Allowance This option is used to leave material on the inside of the pocket for the Profile Pass to clean-up. This is often very useful ...

Re: using an existing design how to automaticlly increase the cut size

Select everything that you want to resize and then click on the resize button (pic). Set the width and height or just set one of them and leave the "Link XY" button checked and everything selected will scale proportionately.
