Re: How to Fly cut the spoil board
If you shave off 0.062" all at once, you may be cutting much more than necessary. If it is MDF, you are going to create a gigantic mess unless you have a very good dust collector. I suggest maybe 0.010" to start.

Re: creating a fillet
Adding to what Mark just said, there is an illustration program called Inkscape that will greatly expand your graphics creation capabilities. It is free to download for Windows based computers.

Re: Curious Toolpath Preview Issue
I would very much like a higher resolution simulation or the ability to select my own. However, I don't think that will necessarily fix the phenomenon you originally observed.

Re: Curious Toolpath Preview Issue
All I can advise is to trust the software to do what you tell it to. You are using a 3-D rendering in an entirely inappropriate way, as already pointed out.

Re: Finish cut
Read up on the "Pocket Allowance" and "Allowance Offset" features in the Pocket and Profile tool path options. They are probably what you are looking for. Here is a link http://support.vectric.com/aspire-questions/item/how-will-allowance-offset-or-pocket-allowance-change-toolpath I really don't thin...

Re: Question for the sign finishing pro's
Lasting 10 years on a car body is not the same thing as lasting 10 years on a sign made of HDU. If you were painting over a smooth metal surface that had been primed with a metal primer and wet sanded to a uniform smoothness, I would be more optimistic.

Re: Question for the sign finishing pro's
Twelve years is a long time for any type of paint to last out in the weather. That may be the best you can do.

Version 7.514 is the latest version. I suspect it is your friend who does not have the latest version.

There aren't many 1/4" bits that have a cut length of 2".

Re: Large area clearance
The V bit and the end mill should carve at the same depth when you use the large area clearance tool feature. There is no undocumented feature here. Perform your Z height calibration for each bit with great care. Also, be sure that your work piece is secured flat on the table. This is sometimes hard...

I have never experienced anything like what you are showing. I don't mean to offend, but why don't you post the CRV file so the experts can see if perhaps you have a hidden mistake somewhere.

Re: Vcarve Barn Board ?
Good advice Rick. I use a lot of barn wood and other salvage wood. I bought a Little Wizard II hand held metal detector from woodcraft.com (~$25) to go over each piece. Sometimes, a visual inspection isn't enough to find buried nails. That provides a lot of safety and confidence for about the same c...

Re: Vcarve Barn Board ?
Here is a picture of a barnwood sign I pocket carved for a church Christmes sale. Click to enlarge. The letters were hand painted. The bit was an 1/8" end mill. As you can see, this wood was very prone to splintering but it didn't ruin the overall effect. This piece sold quickly as did many other si...

Re: Custom 3D art.
I've been informed by James Booth that another way to do this would be to purchase Cut3D. This would allow them to tool path an STL file and bring the tool path into VCP that way. Since I mostly use Aspire this was new info for me... Michael I have Cut 3-D and it can generate a 3-D file that import...
