Re: Tool database and Material
I have my database setup the way Tim suggested and it isn't that hard to maintain. What I have for most jobs now though is a series of toolpath templates which are set up by material so I just load the correct one and away I go. They're all preset with the different types of toolpaths I'm likely to ...

Re: Saving part file as Shopbot doesn't work
The issue isn't the Post Processor you're using to save the files under from VCarve. As Ron says the issue is that you don't have the Shopbot software correctly setup on the PC that you're using to run the ShopBot itself. The things it is telling the machine to do are important things that it needs ...

Re: Saving part file as Shopbot doesn't work
Does it say what the error with that line actually is? the C#,90 line calls the custom90.sbc file located in c:\sbparts\custom which in turn loads the my_variables.sbc file from the same location. That file is created when you run the Shopbot setup program (tools menu, Shopbot Setup in SB3). If any ...

Re: wish it had
I load up toolpath templates for pretty much everything these days for exactly that reason. I was always forgetting to specify a ramp.
Of course remembering to make and save the template the first time I use the new tool is the new problem! The older I get the less I remember...

Re: This might be a stupid question, but....
My supplier (UK only unfortunately) does identical bits with bearings and without for the roughly the same price. I'm sure there must be American suppliers who do the same without charging the earth.

Re: convert fixed points to bezier curve points
Select all the nodes you want to convert either by holding down shift and clicking on each one or drag the mouse around them for a selection box.
Once you have them selected press S and they will be converted into beziers.

Re: Another dumb resolution question.
I originally thought yes but having thought about it a bit more I don't think the actual number of pixels available to the model at a set resolution would change between a square workspace and a round one.
I may well be wrong though!

Watch the second video on this page - http://www.vectric.com/WebSite/Vectric/ ... orials.htm - it goes through the steps of creating and saving a toolpath for Mach3.
Well worth spending some time reviewing the videos and FAQ's at http://support.vectric.com as well.

Even better with Vectric. Upgrades are free for the first year after purchase.SIBUD wrote: On some other unrelated software purchase, the vendor gave free upgrades to anyone who bought within 30 days of the new release. Has Vectric ever done that?

Re: carve from a Photo?
With practise it can be done in Aspire. PhotoVcarve can do it if you can convert the photo to the correct greyscale image type.

Re: toolpath template problem
Does it for me too.
I've (finally) replicated the circumstances that cause it as well. I'm a beta tester so I'll report it for hopefully a fix in the next version.
The "workaround" for now is to disassociate any toolpaths from a layer before renaming them.
