Re: Router Recommendation

Depending on your skill level with electronics, electrical and wiring you can get the same spindle that Nextwave offers for about 1/3 the cost on the web. You need to wire the spindle (4 wires) and possibly set the parameters in the VFD depending who you buy it from.

Don’t paint walnut! Use another material if it has to be painted. Use Thompsons water seal or something similar if you use walnut and let the beauty of the wood show.

Re: Easiest way to X,Y zero 7watt laser on my shark 500 ?

I fired my 2 watt into a piece of .125" plexiglass and lowered the head down to the plexiglass and traced the head with a sharpie.

Re: 3D carve from a Photo

"Can that height map be saved to carve with a TBN?" If you are referring to the PhotoVCarve app yes they can that is one of the advantages of the app over the toolpath in Vcarve and Aspire. But I was just thinking again and this might not be what the OP was looking for, PhotoVCarve images typically ...

Re: 3D carve from a Photo

Have you looked at the stand alone PhotoVCarve app? "3D Grayscale Machining PhotoVCarve automatically converts a grayscale image into a 3D height map that can then be carved." https://www.vectric.com/products/photovcarve?gclid=Cj0KCQjw7aqkBhDPARIsAKGa0oId5eLvlkDVhZEc11gCYzGP5ZWyls-Bve-s4aNEBrs6iU-C4...

This looks really nice! I think the sun would look good, or drop the bird and do a moon with clouds.

If the tablet runs windows you could use “ready to control”, other than that Nextwave is locked down with proprietary software.
