This is the VCarve forum, and he said he's utilizing VCP9, so Aspire isn't going to help.mark-s wrote:Make your image in AI and save it down to AI 8.

Re: Issue with opening and importing ai. File
I had experience on a software project converting vector files in various formats to PDF, BMP and JPEG. The Adobe Illustrator .ai format was critical to the project and the most difficult to deal with. At that time (2006) the only tool that could read AI files correctly was Adobe Illustrator itself...

Re: Too big
Thanks very much to all. Samson, did you use the dowels in conjunction with Tiling? There isn't any reason to tile for something this simple. Set the dowels at the center of the material, so when the material is flipped end for end, it positions it back on the center line. Once the dowels are posit...

I would use dowels for positioning, and flip the material, after cutting the one half.

Re: Isolating a slice of a 3d model, converting it to a vect
I suppose the way I would do it...
I would import the model, orient it to the bottom of the model, adjust the zero plane to .07", and then create the vector boundary.

Re: Paradise box - Tribute to a General
The box is beautiful, and it's great that you had the opportunity to meet this hero.
It's very sad to hear of his passing but, it's something special, knowing that he liked the box so much, that he chose it to be his final resting place.
Mark, you too are a hero.

Re: D&M files
I don't know what you mean that you "had to recreate rough and finish in vcarve pro".
The tool paths don't come with the file. You have to create them yourself.
To get the profile cut, you again have to create it. Go to the modeling tab and click on the create vector boundary icon.

Re: circles still to big
I must be missing something... If you are attempting to cut circles, why would you create them in Fusion, and then import to VCP to create the tool path? If it is cutting fine with the Fusion file, why not just use it? Or better yet, why not create the circles in VCP, and generate the tool path usin...

Re: Cannot get machine to start at Zero
There are a lot of parameters and settings that need to be correct before pushing the go button. It will all become second nature in time but, I always check and re-check my settings before running the machine. And I always have my hand on the Estop when I hit start, just in case anything goes other...

Re: First try on photo to wood
Micheal is correct. I use another program to create the vectors, and use VCP to create the tool paths. I haven't used the program for a while, and it's on my other computer, and I can't remember the name of it. I apologize, I didn't know there was a gadget (although it's only for Aspire), I thought ...

Re: First try on photo to wood
I would like to try doing a halftone of a picture using the drilled dots look. Do you know if that's even a option on vcarve pro? I think Aspire might be able to do it, but not 100% Yes, it is possible using VCP. Here is only one of many I've done. Step back a little, and the image really shows up....

It always gets me into trouble but, I assume it's individual parts that are then put together?
That does give me an idea.
