Re: 2016 User Group - Live Stream Demonstration

Theoretically there is no limit on how many people can watch, as its a live-stream through YouTube rather than something where we're specifically inviting a number of people. How well it works remains to be seen, we tested it though and it seemed to be OK, so we'll see how we get on. The demo today ...

2016 User Group - Live Stream Demonstration

Hello All, We're going to attempt a live stream demonstration of one of the User Group tutorials to see if this is a feasible method for future online demonstrations. The particular demo we're going to show is the print block drawing and toolpathing, this is one of the tool-making examples I ran thr...

Re: Hurricane Matthew Update - Vectric User Group 2016

Thanks again to all who came to the Vectric User Group in Orlando. We're looking into options to broadcast some of the presentations for those who were not able to come and will make an announcement on that soon. We're also working on a more detailed report and a lot more photos for both the US and ...

Re: Showing lines through a 3D object?

If Tim's suggestion does not work, it may be because the grayscale for the component you created is on a 2D Layer further down the Layer list then the Layer the vectors are on that are obscured. Either move the gray-scales onto a Layer at the top of the list (or vectors onto a layer at the bottom) o...

Re: Hurricane Matthew Update - Vectric User Group 2016

I believe it's safe to say that at least in Orlando we're in good shape. The storm has passed and the meeting is in full swing albeit with a few less people. We very much hope that the other places in the storms path are as lucky as we seem to have been.

Cheers

Re: 2016 Vectric User Group (USA and UK) Announced

Well, the meeting room is setup. Looks like we'll be a small but dedicated group! Now we're keeping an eye on the weather and hoping for the best. Fingers crossed we have power in the morning. If all is well we'll be starting registration at 8am in the room called Legends 1.

Cheers,
James

I should also mention that I believe you will get a full refund on hotel rooms at the conference hotel if you call today to cancel.

Re: 2016 Vectric User Group (USA and UK) Announced

Hopefully everyone will have seen the Global announcement but just to make sure - here is a repeat of that: We have spoken to the hotel staff about holding the User Group. As far as they are concerned we can still hold a meeting, however we fully understand many people will not want to now come or w...

Hurricane Matthew Update - Vectric User Group 2016

We have spoken to the hotel staff about holding the User Group. As far as they are concerned we can still hold a meeting, however we fully understand many people will not want to now come or will have had their travel arrangements cancelled. As such anyone who wants a full refund for the cost of the...

Re: 2016 Vectric User Group (USA and UK) Announced

The Vectric staff are at the hotel. We've spent most of the day travelling so apologies for lack of communication. Like everyone else we have no idea how serious the hurricane will ultimately be in Orlando and whether it will actually allow us to have a meeting or not. In the morning we'll review th...

Re: 2 sided machining mechcanics

The key to most things we try and teach in the tutorials is what we consider to be "best practice". As with most CNC related things though there are dozens of approaches, all of which have merit and suit different peoples ways of working or equipment setup. As most people has indicated here if your ...

Re: Getting the Outline of a Shape to do a Profile Cut

You can try selecting all your vectors and offset them outwards by an amount large enough to make the vectors join. Then you can offset that back in by the same amount or slightly less to leave a border. This may result in some rounding on corners though.

That's great - look forward to seeing you there. We're in the final stages of getting ready for the UK edition of the meeting on the 28th so should be well prepared by the time we arrive in the US.

Norm - that is very cool - Great minds think alike :) - I'm going to be presenting on this topic (making tools to form other material) at the User Group in a few weeks. We just updated the Vectric Blog to showcase some of the User Group projects here: http://vectriclabs.blogspot.co.uk/2016/09/2016-u...

Hi Chuck, this is a really powerful addition to V8.5 - anyone who has not seen it can view the video for this function on this page: http://www.vectric.com/products/aspire/whats-new/v85/whats-new.html Regarding creating your own repeating patterns this is possible and there are a number of approache...
