Re: VectorArt cut being offered for $63,000 on ebay
most are modeled in a variety of software products so never exist in the real world In my opinion that is what makes the VectorArt3D files so easy to work with vs. those that were scanned. My experience has been that the scanned models tend to have more "noise", i.e. variations in the thousandths t...

Re: setting depth of cut files
Depending on what you mean:
A. Set up a boundary vector to limit the area being cut: ->Link
or
B. You may need to adjust the Model Position in Material which is under the Material Setup dialog.

The 2 rail sweep is only available in Aspire. The following link may give you a better understanding of which Vectric products have the features you require: ->Link

Re: Anyone ever cut Limestone?
15% on finishing with a .125" Ball Nose I wouldn't go any higher than a 10% stepover, but you can move very fast with the 3D finish pass because you are only removing 0.0125" material per pass (10% stepover with a 0.125" bit), so the load on the bit is quite light. I would run with 300-360 IPM on t...

Re: Anyone ever cut Limestone?
I've cut it before using a ShopBot PRT Alpha with a 3.25HP Porter Cable router. It carves nicely for shallow V carving and does well for 3D work. http://www.222artisans.com/images/PheasantLimestone.jpg http://www.vectric.com/forum/download/file.php?id=6817&mode=view Your feed rates are about the sam...

Re: Gaps in inlays
Instructions for using a lacquer stick to fill in inlay gaps 1. Find the inlay stick that is closest to the color of the material you are matching 2. Use a hot knife or soldering iron and apply it to the end of the lacquer stick 3. Let the liquid lacquer drip into the gap you wish to fill. It's OK ...

I'm not sure how to do that in VCarve. Even in Aspire I'd have to think about it for awhile.
Perhaps someone more clever will chime in. I got nothin'

Re: create 2d path from a 3d roughing
Tim made an excellent suggestion. Consider this also: Is your design such that you could do without the roughing pass -- or just run the beginning of the roughing pass to lighten the load on the initial cut of the finish bit? If your finish pass is using a 0.125" ballnose bit @8% stepover then, afte...
