Re: Error- Check tool can fit into selected vectors ....
I think this message will also show when some of the vectors are actually positioned too close to each other to allow the diameter bit you are using to fit between them I find that sometimes the vectors are only .080 apart when I am using a .093 diameter bit and so those vectors need to be moved or ...

Re: Engraving a nameplate
Hello, Engraving in the brass should be no problem but the choice of bit used can have a definite effect on the finished engraving. You can find spring loaded diamond tipped engravers fairly cheap on eBay(around $30 for .25" Dia.) and I have been using one of these a lot for engraving Plexiglas edge...

Re: Building a DIY 5th axis ...ideas, plans etc.
Hello, Thanks Chris, I am not sure if or when it might cut chips but at least I am picking up where I left off and trying to at least test the mechanism and try and evaluate my original idea. I am proceeding to make the remaining parts with what is on hand and although some of the parts are from the...

Re: Building a DIY 5th axis ...ideas, plans etc.
Hello again, I have not posted to this thread in some time but have been working on the drawings and making the Z axis carriage main sides. I have an updated view of the Z axis details along with a picture of the Z axis carriage that I finished assembling today. Ii is just the 4 sides of the carriag...

Re: Building a DIY 5th axis ...ideas, plans etc.
Hello, I have done some work with these drawings to modify the Z axis carriage parts and the B-C head parts to reflect the sizes and fit for the actual drive mechanism I ended up assembling as posted here in this thread. The original drawings were basically a starting point and I will get them all u...

Re: Building a DIY 5th axis ...ideas, plans etc.
Hello, I did some searching through my files and I believe this is the most current drawing for the parts to make the 5th axis assembly. My file organization can use some improvement and some of the parts have individual part files that were used to create the toolpaths from, so I would not be surpr...

Re: Building a DIY 5th axis ...ideas, plans etc.
Hello all, Wow, it looks like this guy got this far and gave up on his ideas right? Well I did not give up on them but I kind of let them fall by the way side for a long time. I had begun the build of my large format CNC router/mill and that build had enough of its own build difficulties and crazy i...

Re: Multiple parts - one TAP
It almost seems easier to simply copy the vectors to the needed locations in the drawing and then the toolpaths are automatically created for as many parts as you wish to cut? Basically no toolpath editing involved or offsets and simply use locations in the drawing that match where the material will...

Re: 3D Model on a curve
Maybe I am not understanding the question correctly but if the design to be cut is just basically engraving into the model that is already cut, then can't you just use the check box to project toolpath onto 3D model in the profile toolpath?

Can you move the modified cabinet parts from the library you created to a folder that will be allowed or am I not understanding correctly?

Re: Controller not Working
Do you have a Volt/ohm meter to use and check that you have power to the controller? If you have power to the controller then perhaps there is a fuse internally(inside the control box) If you are not familiar with electrical then you might be well advised to see if you have a friend that can help. I...

Re: Extend Vectors Not Working
I believe I have encountered a similar problem and in my case the vectors I was trying to extend to were actually grouped vectors. Might check them to make sure they are not indeed grouped vectors and un-group them if so.

Re: Mid sized CNC router/mill using VcarvePro 48" x 48"
Hello, I worked with another cutting board in bamboo not long ago and this is just some pics of the preview and final board that I made. I dabbled with the 3D a little bit and it was enough to remind me I do not know enough or have not worked with it enough to produce fancy items. I was not real hap...

Re: Mid sized CNC router/mill using VcarvePro 48" x 48"
Hello all, I just wanted to post an update to this build because I added a high speed spindle and controller to it. It is a Chinese spindle in the 110V power range and I have cut some items with it now so I feel it is a great upgrade from the router motor I used to use. The main improvement that is ...

Re: cutting disc
Hello, I have experienced the somewhat elliptical or egg shaped cutting of circles with my SX3 CNC mill shortly after getting it. After a lot of posts and the help of others it was suggested to look into the method used to couple the motors to the ballscrews and in fact my problem was due to a loose...
