Nicely done! This is a case where BB or bamboo equivalent really looks great.

Re: Slow toolpath calculation.
Windows Settings - System - Display - Graphics - Options (for the program in question from the list) - High Performance. It's not at all obvious!
(edit) P.S. If VCarve or Aspire aren't on the list, you will have to add it using the "Add an App" option.

Re: Carving terrain - New detailed tutorial!
Thank you for the great video! And thanks even more for the link to TouchTerrain. I was able to generate a map of my area and create toolpaths in about 5 minutes. I have Aspire, so was able to skip the PrusaSlicer step. Also picked up a few ideas and tricks in your video. Great work!

Re: Slow toolpath calculation.
It's more likely using the graphics co-processor (assuming your computer has one) than the extra cores, although it may be using them as well. Check in your Task Manager to see what the cores are doing and what graphics processor it's using. I had to activate mine in program properties for Aspire (s...

Re: Milling Bloodwood??
I would be concerned about doing anything with Pernambuco. According to the Wood Database (noted above) "This wood species is in CITES Appendix II, and is on the IUCN Red List. It is listed as endangered due to a population reduction of over 50% in the past three generations, caused by a decline in ...

Re: Profile cuts in hardwoods using 1/8th bit?
Can you recommend some of these chinese bits you mention? Didn't realize you could buy them for a couple bucks each lol The ones I purchased are no longer available, but there are many others, such as amazon.ca/Piece-Mills-Material-Plastic-Finishing/dp/B0B39JCPWD/ref=sr_1_121?crid=524XZB82ELN0&keyw...

Re: Profile cuts in hardwoods using 1/8th bit?
I do it a lot. There are 2 key things: As Ted said, keep the kerf clean. The other thing I've found is to do multiple shallow cut passes. I usually don't go more than .15" per pass with a 1/8" bit. And of course, buy Chinese bits in bulk so you won't worry about the budget. I've found they are as go...

Re: 3D CARVING TIME
conservative (pessimistic?) I deliberately used that term to avoid political implications, which are rampant these days! Although, the two terms have a certain resonance... :x :) Sure, I could increase the feed speeds and adjust spindle speeds to maintain chip load but my point was that this works ...

Re: 3D CARVING TIME
I’m going to disagree with the need to set a scaling factor especially one so high. I run my machine at very pessimistic speeds. After losing a workpiece to an aggressive cut and having to pay for a replacement, I'm doubly paranoid. Good thing i had my thumb on the E-stop. So for me, a high factor ...

Re: 3D CARVING TIME
You need to set the Scale Factor in the time estimate tab. Mine is set at 1.9. You determine the factor by experiment. From your comment, yours should probably be about the same as mine. Keep in mind that this will still only give you an estimate of cutting time. Each job is different. Also, 3D carv...

Re: Double Sided Surfacing
Well, usually you have 1 flat and true side that gets placed on the spoilboard. Sure, you can shim out a warped or irregular board. The main thing of course is that it not move under tooling loads. As for the top, why bother? It's almost certainly going to be machined away anyway. As long as the mat...

Re: Adjusting Deep of 3D Carve
You've got your Model at the bottom of the Material in the settings. You should probably move it it up some. How much, depends on the result you want. I would put it near or at the top of the Material.
