Re: Double-sided carve coming out offset
I've mentioned this many times before that I've done hundreds of double-sided cuts. When I first started I did the dowels as mentioned in the tutorials. Because my spoil board has a zillion cuts and I kept screwing up where to set the dowels, I decided to use a jig, which is basically attaching a bo...

The detail on the center of flower is so amazing. Not sure how you did that. Looks outstanding!
Second that.

Re: Double sided job
As mentioned when importing, center the object. It will have both sides above and below the level plane. After you hit "position and import", check the box "Create both sides", then adjust how much overcut you want past center. THERE IS NO NEED TO COPY TO OTHER SIDE AFTER IMPORT.

Re: Do these AI gadgets have humor?
Had no idea about the copilot until you mentioned it. I couldn't find something I was looking for the other day, and just tried the copilot and it gave me a whole bunch of new options.

Re: Modelling question
Phil,
Sometimes it's best, or at least easier to use a different modeling software. I was just guessing at the size, but I did this in Rhino which took about 5-minutes. If you can give me the size, I can do a more actuate model and sent it to you.

Re: Modelling question
Not quite sure what you're trying to achieve with "adding discs to a cube" and using a rotary. What part are you making?

Re: offset question on model -- help please...
Randall beat me to it, you should add a Zero Plane. When you offset, the tool will want to go to the Zero (Limit) Plane, which should be set on a separate level. On double-sided cuts where I use chip art tabs I always offset the same as the diameter of the tool. If I only want it to go so deep, I se...

Re: To Vent Outside or Inside this answers that question.
I have a stand alone 400 watt laser that's able to make a 3/4" cut per pass. I vented it outside because of the massive smoke it produces when I'm making deep cuts. The only problem with that, my neighbor called me and told me that my building was on fire.

Re: 7.5 foot tall flying eagle
Looking at the picture of Pre-detailing, do you find it faster and easier to do the final detailing with your hand held battery chain saw rather than doing finish passes on the CNC? You definitely turn out some beautiful work.

Re: Off Topic - Shopbot question
Depending on the direction where the rotary sits on the table, you'll have to determine what post processor to use. You need to wrap the way the rotary would turn to "A", A being your Rotary. My rotary sits in the Y direction and my equipment is Chinese and I use Mach3 so I use the generic "Mach2/3-...

Re: Help with 3D CARVE
You need to figure out just how you want to carve it. The model has over 1100 open vectors, which you need to do some major editing. One way to speed the process is to select the vectors in the face and put them on a separate layer then uncheck the visibility. Select the rest and do a minimal offset...
