Re: Bottoming out a collet nut
Obviously Vectric does not have unlimited resources, so myself, I would rather see that effort go into something like adaptive machining. It would be nice to quit using half a tool diameters length on tools.

Re: Scaling Without Distortion
From what I can see, all the "solutions" presented so far actually alter the geometry. If I understand the OP's post correctly what he wants to do is NOT strectch anything. Stretching by it's very nature distorts geometry. Think "words written on an elastic band". What I think he really wants to do ...

The technical aspect is not difficult. What IS difficult is being creative/artistic.

Re: Longing for the multi-drill head
Yes, yes!!! Let's create software that does it all, runs lathes, mills, edm's, lasers, robots, rc cars, 3d printers, has spreadsheet and database built in and let's not forget a word processor while we are adding features!!! I forgot, some games and connect to my phone and tv. I want it all! I am su...

Re: Touch probe or 3d scanner
First off, Aspire has nothing to do with scanning parts. Probing detailed models is an exercise in futility. Takes FOREVER. 3D scanning is the better technique, but like anything, cost has a direct impact on how successful you will be. All neato hand scanner/walk around devices are at best toys. If ...

I hear ya. I tend to make stuff myself instead of buying parts. Sometimes that is a good idea, sometimes not, LOL.

I was thinking you might use Roto Hinges, then I looked up the price. YIKES!!!! $10 for a pair? Crazy.

........ Maybe but most users are not qualified to determine whether it's a "bug" or just lack of knowledge on how to use the software. This forum is filled with new users that have found a "bug" in the software and most of the time it's proven that there is no problem. Just a new user that doesn't...

Re: Finding accurate Zero for the Y axis
Also be aware that if you use a laser dot or microscope you can encounter parallax. Essentially that is the axis of the laser beam or microscope is not parallel to the Z axis of the machine. Myself, I do not fight it. Just always set the zero from a known height above the workpiece. That way I am no...

Re: Finding accurate Zero for the Y axis
For really decent accuracy there are three methods that I know of: XYZ touch off plate. This requires a macro for the control and be a bit tedious to implement. Also, it may not work on some pieces because of clamps getting in the way, etc Microscope. This is what I use. VERY accurate. Use a fairly ...

https://hosting.photobucket.com/images/m28/zipperhead55/Model4.JPG In this example, I decided I wanted to be able to isolate the wolf, so I moved the slider to the left until it created a vector around the wolf. It isn't perfect, but with a bit of node editing it can be done in no time at all. Not ...

Locate the tutorials on "tiling" to see how to cut oversize pieces. As for fixturing? Hmmmmm. hi, i had a quick look on tiling, and from what i saw i then have to join the pieces back together once finished? i cannot cut them down, maybe i misunderstood. i will have another read! thank you "Quick L...

Reflecting upon the title of this thread "Is there any hope for Linux users?"
After considerable deliberation I have come to the conclusion that there is no hope for them in the foreseeable future.
