Re: Icons
Well, quite a chore, but that did indeed work. Well worth the effort, especially to those of us with the bundles/collections. The amount of material available is impossible to memorize, and rummaging through a large .pdf file every time you get an idea would be very tedious. This puts them all just ...

Re: Jesus Loves You [acrylic]
90 degree v bit for the lettering, .25 end mill for the cut out. 10,000 RPM, 250 ipm. I only scratched the surface at .009 deep, thats all you really need. Always good to experiment, but going deeper you generally lose detail, as more of the cone of the vbit cuts into the material. Slower rpm's and ...

Jesus Loves You [acrylic]
Made this for a special little girl, a friend of mines daughter. I got so caught up working around the holidays that I didn't get her anything, not even a card. Felt terrible about that, so I thought I'd do something extra special to make up. Both of her parents are very religious, and shes a little...

Re: Icons
Or just load it then save it again. You'd have to save them in the new .3dclip format or .crv3d though as you can't save a .v3m from Aspire. I gather that simply renaming them with a new extension would be pointless ? This is a very handy function, just got a 3 dvd bundle batch from vectorart, none...

Icons
In aspires project window, clicking "3d clip art" and guiding it to a folder which contains 3d files, I notice some of the .v3m files show up as a graphic icon, which allows you to visually quickly identify what it is. Most however do not, I was wondering why some show and most don't, and if theres ...

Re: Noob question
Not offended, just find it a bit ironic at times when you hear "the only dumb question is a question not asked", then you go ahead and ask, and you'll hear "google is your friend!" or "thats covered in the tutorials". I was trying to get a time sensitive project done for a little girl, which is why ...

Re: Noob question
I said in the 1st sentence I am going to go through the tutorials. I fully realize that aspire is not 3d machinist, free vs $2,000, yeah I think there is something to that. They nonetheless have a similar interface and similar features, are put out by the same company, with an identical goal in mind...

Re: Noob question
There is no boundary to select that I can see or click.
In 3d machinist, you can open a 3d file, set the size and run toolpaths, thats pretty much it.
Aspire, when I do that, wants to cut the whole block and not just the model, so obviously I am badly missing something here.

Re: Noob question
Well, also I loaded the revised file in wincnc, it still shows that the whole board is to be roughed, not just the 3d file I want roughed.

Re: Noob question
Thanks for the tips.
Created a vector boundary, but it apparently still wants to profile the whole board, as nothing is deleted when I click "delete waste material".

Re: Pocketing a O or R or other letters with a center.
Always nice to see HD related.
There might be an easier way, but the select/deselect process is a must for pocketing.
In some cases you might want to do just the opposite, pocket the holes while leaving the letters raised.

Re: Noob question
K thanks, nice tutorial, though watching it twice I still can't figure out why it wants to machine the whole thing.
I was assuming that v3d files would be ready to machine upon opening, as they are in 3d machinist, I guess they are not.
