Thanks Martin, I'll have to look into the food safe stuff - never knew/thought about that.
And I could do a flat depth, that would help. This was kind of a rush so not a lot if thought!
Learn every day, hopefully...

Re: Cutting Board for Daughter Birthday
Well good question, that I don't know the answer to......OK to use as a cutting board. Or is this more for show?
It is oiled and waxed, and I would hope that IF she uses it for a cutting board, she would use the back for cutting, and leave the front for show!

Cutting Board for Daughter Birthday
My daughters birthday is today so this was a bit of a rush job. She will get it on Saturday. Piece of Maple (I think) 11/16 thick and v carved with a 30 deg bit. Then filled with 2 part epoxy mixed with brown paint. Thought about using Bar Top material but it didn't seem like it was setting up with ...

Re: rectangles & circle size
Depends (maybe) on which way our cutting and selection of "outside" or "inside".
Review of tool paths should show how it will cut. Select the "solid" checkbox at the bottom and it should show which side it will cut on. Blue shaded line against tool path.

Re: Rectangle corner radius question
If you want a square corner, can't you just use the fillet tool to make it back square?

Re: Everything moving to the bottom left corner when routing
Did you change the project size and then neglect to "re-calculate" all tool paths?

Re: Brush strip supplier
I found some drafting brushes on sale at a local art store and used them. Just cut off the wood part and glued the bristle onto my shoe set up. The brushes I found, had the bristles in a plastic compound so worked pretty good.

Re: Methods to make toolpath to cut fence boards
Lay out your gate in the program, leaving appropriate spaces and proper sizes for the boards, and curve of the top. Then separate and copy each board onto its own layer, and place them all in the same location, corresponding with corner of the jig and touch off point. Draw a singe arc on the top of ...

I think they show the wood left after the cut. You will see it quite often on pockets and whatnot. Change the boundaries a bit and they will probably go away.

Re: Adding images to wood files in preview toolpaths
You should be able to put it where ever you want. I save them into the project file and then load it into a word doc which can be easily sent. Or I suppose just attach it as a jpg or bmp file. You just need to be consistant in where you put it so you look in the same place every time.

So, this is what I was practicing for...
It's 10.5 by 16.5 Walnut with a Maple inlay. Flower was carved with a 30 Deg V Bit and then painted and then sanded off.
Rattle-can semi-gloss lacquer. Peg storage in the back.

First Inlay attempt
This is my first attempt at an inlay. Piece of scrap oak with a walnut inlay. Wiped with Natural Danish Oil. Just wanted to see how it would work. Pretty happy with the result. Was done in Aspire using the V-Carve inlay method. Friend wants a crib board with the inlay so am feeling better about bein...

WOW!
It says the bit is for: • Ideal for routing softwood/hardwood and harder materials such as MDF & Chipboard
I would have thought marble would be pretty hard.
