Re: Orientation of a model/component

Make vectors for the word "Indian." Load original image into a paint program and airbrush out the word "Indian."
Load cleaned Indian image into Aspire and create component from bitmap. Flip "Indian" vectors and create Flat Profile Shape with enough height to clear the model.

Re: Looking to have model made

Thanks, John.

Bob, I maxed out the height for a 3/4" board. IIRC the curve was 40% but you'd need to play with that until you get the look you want.
If you shoot me a PM with your eMail, I can send the .stl file.

Re: Looking to have model made

Put a vector around the guys. Create Curved Profile shape from vectors. Create component from bitmap. Both set to ADD.
Apply smoothing.

Re: Sapele grips

Thanks.
Yes, basically a two-rail sweep with a tilt to make the butt end thicker.
Grips for a PM9 would be a challenge. I have a CM9 and it looks like most of the grip is molded into the frame--no removable scales.

Re: Help - new to CNC

i’m having trouble determining how deep to go when v-carving You don't really need to determine anything as the depth is determined by the spacing between the vectors and the angle of the V-bit. The bit "rides" on the two vectors and goes deeper when they are spaced further apart. It sounds like yo...

Sober coins for a friend

Three months and counting--hope I can make a bunch more.
This is .090" brass stock. 60 deg CMT laser point and .155 EM.
I have no idea what the alloy is, but seemed "gummy." I had to use 1500 wet n dry to smooth the burrs, then polished.

Month two is aluminum.

Month one was in bloodwood.

Re: some stamps and a medal box

Those are beautiful. :D

What tools and settings did you use to get such a nice finish on the brass?

Re: small pocket with a v carve

is there a way to highlight the missed areas and to create another toolpath with a smaller cutter Look at "Rest Machining." Or try offsetting your vector inward a tad and V-carve between those two vectors. Then pocket inside your original vector. It will machine fast and you will get square corners...

It's not a chicken, it's a robin. Look at the wording on the picture.
Clearly, it's a chicken named "Robin."
