Re: Edge lit acrylic

Xxray

I agree with you about the bits. I think we all tend to hang onto them a little longer than we should.

Re: Edge lit acrylic

I agree with everything that has been said: Use Cast Acrylic Use High feed rates Use low RPM's Depending on the size of your project and your particular CNC machine you can try: Use single fluted bits (no more than a double fluted bit) Try putting your acrylic piece in the freezer for an hour or so ...

Re: Webster Fire Department Display Case

When I delivered it to the Fire Chief he was so happy he gave me a bug bear hug. For second I thought was going to give me kiss (I'm a fraid I'd had to deck him, Ha Ha ha). Needless to say he was very very Pleased as was the City Manager who came over to look at it. It took a little longer to build ...

Re: Pool Sign for a friend

Leo I used a multi stage approach in making this sign. 1. I primed the board with two coats of white primer 2. I painted the entire board green (2 coats) and let it dry. 3. I applied a masking film over the front face of the board before I carved anything. 4. I cut out the outline for the peices for...

Pool Sign for a friend

A friend of mine is building a pool with a swim up bar at one end of the pool with a palapa (it will look like an island structure with a straw roof). He asked if I could make a sign for he and his wife that could be seen when people swim up to the bar.

Re: Webster Fire Department Display Case

Thanks all for the kind words. The doors are from a solid piece of oak. I cut the front side first then flipped the doors over and cut the pocket for theglass panels. The shadow box is for the City of Webster's Fire Chief. The right side of the box relates to all his various careers before he became...

Re: Cutting Board Christmas Gifts

I typically cut my middle inserts anywhere from .375 to .45 inches deep. The thickness of my cutting boards varies from 1 to 1.5 inches thick. On the Colorado cutting board I used the traditional inlay method for the maple oval insert using a .25 inch and a .0625 inch end mill at a cut depth of .4 i...

Cutting Board Christmas Gifts

All the boards are either Maple or Walnut or a mix of both.

For the inlays I used walnut, Maple, Yellow Heart & Bloodwood. Foe the bigger inlay pieces I use the traditional inlay method. The smaller inlays are done using the V inlay method.

Just 8 more boards to complete.

Re: Navy seal trident

Go to www.cncmilitaryemblems.com and see if Chris has it. If not just email him (Chris Cates) a picture and he can make you a 3D model of the emblem. My son is in the Army and I was looking for an emblem for his battalion and could not find it. I sent him a picture and 24 hours later he had it on hi...
