Tony et al Couple of suggestions: - I would second the suggestions for a tab edit option for 2d toolpaths that will result in cutting through the material. It removes the moment of panic when the last cut is done and the router is still at risk for marring or hurling the cut out part. Some of the sa...

Hard Copy - Sheet Music
This was created as an award for a pianist friend whose recent recording of this piece by MacDowell has been winning awards. I was surprised at the quality - especially considering it was processed from a pdf, to printed copy, to scanned, and then converted to vector. It was cut with a 50 deg. dreme...

Paul, Overall, I love the Shopsabre unit. It is extremely solidly built, has been reliable, and is very accurate. The frame is a massive steel unit, welded and machined. Flex is virtually nonexistant and I've never seen any too chatter even cutting aluminum. Moving it is a bear, even though my unit ...

Small
Purely a test.
ShopSabre router
dremel 50 degree bit
Oak stock - not the best for detail work, but the first thing that came to hand
It appears that the limits on size have more to do with media and tool, than software and router.

I wonder if it would be possible to have an "options" selection page where a few of the default settings could be set. For example, the usual thickness or material appears to be set at 1 inch, and I would prefer the default to be .75. I would also prefer that "Origin Offset" not be checked as the de...

I've been working on producing acceptable renditions of photos in wood. I've used other software to produce heightfields which are interesting, but very time intensive and rough on those 1/8 in ball bits. There is often something lost in just cutting height according to brighness - nonetheless a goo...

Logo and Photo - V-Carved
V-Carved store logo and V-carved photo of neices. "How to" for photo will be posted under tips - Raster to vector thread. What I told my brother was that: Sometimes, when cutting up wood, one finds treasures embedded. One theory is that the greater the meaning and truth to a concept, the more often ...

V Carved Line Drawings
Here are a couple of pictures carved with a HerSaf V bit (great tool), and based on Dover Clip Art originals. I feel like I am closing in on acceptable renditions of hi res photos, and will post examples when the goal is achieved.

Raster To Vector Conversion
As a new user of VCarve, I've had a few moments of frustration, many delights, and have learned a few things. In an effort to make use of a large collection of raster art (clip art, Dover publication designs, scans of print art, and digital photos), finding decent raster to vector conversion was cri...
