Re: Mother’s Day 1st CNC project

I would use a different font for the names and use a round over bit along the edges of the hearts, the base could be solid and use small dowels or metal pins to attach the heart to the base.

Just a suggestion

Inlay Tip

Though I would pass on my tip. Everyone talks about bits and depth of cut etc. I was working on a very detailed inlay yesterday, when cleaning up the both the male and female v carves pay special attention to cleaning out material left behind from the cutters. The inlay will never fit without spendi...

Re: Wedding Sign

I would vcarve the text and then fill with epoxy resin.
The larger text could be a contrasting color.

Re: Inlay Tray prototype

Thank you Martin The couple of things I have learned from this testing… The inlay for me is the easy part. The tray/bowl … not sure what the difference is… anyway having the Bubinga base has made the tray very heavy and I will probably not use it and just go with the 10mm end grain walnut as the bas...

Timber used: Tray: Bubinga, Walnut (end grain) Cherry Inlay: Leafy Sea Dragon - Osang Orange - Text - Maple. I am happy with the test piece, however I need to learn the Moulding Toolpath to shape the sides of the tray (top and bottom sides), I have watched a couple of Vectric tutorials and Utube stu...

Re: A simple way to make inlays

Here is an example of using contrasting materials, while this is a 3d model you could do the same with text.

Re: A simple way to make inlays

Ok why are you using an lnlay if you want raised letters ?
What I would do is glue two contrasting species of timber together and use a vcarve and clearance tool path to remove the unwanted top surface material to expose the text.
I do this with a raised 3d model with contrasting materials.
