Sounds like the router climbed in the bracket as the project progressed.
I had this happen on my Pirahna.
Replaced the bracket, same thing.
Added sandpaper between router and bracket, and no slips.

Re: How to create a letter with a tabs for laser cutting
the circle Idea is fantastic.Mike-S wrote:If you are just using .dxf vectors, you could node edit parts of the lines to make solid tabs.
Below is probably an easier way.
I will use this, when I get my laser attachment.

Re: How to create a letter with a tabs for laser cutting
If you are talking about the Inside of letters like 'P' then I would suggest inserting tabs in your toolpath.
It would be the same no matter what font you use.

These look great, but my dogs will need 12 inches around, and 6 inches deep

Re: cnc pirrana
The way I read this is; 1. You've created Tool paths, and saved the files to a USB Thumb Drive. 2. You then take the USB Thumb Drive to the machine, and you are not seeing the TAP files. The Piranha only reads USB Thumb Drives of 8GB or smaller. The drive must be formatted to FAT, for the machine to...

Re: New Machine Arrived
Just scrap wood at this point. My wife's only comment when looking at the first piece was , "why did you use a piece so thick (3/4"). My answer was I didn't want to work on thin wood, until I got use to the machine. (she was suggesting 1/4" underlayment) If I did use 1/4" it would have cut well into...

Re: New Machine Arrived
First attempt at uploading.
Here is the result from first cuts.
the top sign turned out great (I'm sure I can improve later)
The Second board shows the cut started on the "away" portion of the tile, then the router dropped, i believe the front clamp gave at the same time...

Re: New Machine Arrived
I did spell it correctly on the Vectric Job. I have zero experience on CNC, but have 30+ years in Information Technology, with 7 weeks of Vectric Tutorials. I do realize I am a newbie, and have a lot to learn. I am going to be very watchful, and conservative of Feed and Speeds, Material Setup, Zeroi...

Re: New Machine Arrived
Thanks. The sand paper sounds like a "grit" idea. I have been on the forum gather quite a wealth of information, this one included . I had to wait 7 weeks to get the machine, so had lots of time to research and built projects with the software. At about 5 years from retirement (fingers crossed), I a...

Re: New Machine Arrived
or... The First Cut is the Deepest. I got the machine all setup last night, and marked up a project. Toolpath was a simple VCarve, but Tiled. My wife asked for a sign that stated "Veterens Lunch". I decided to use 1"x4"x3/4" scrap stock, I had laying around. (Design was text on 2 rows, Material Setu...

New Machine Arrived
My first CNC machine (Pirahna FX) just arrived last night.
While I was cutting the box open, my wife enters the room, and says, "How long before you have it setup, I have a sign I want you to make, and I need it by Thursday morning."
And the adventure begins...
