Re: 2 rail sweep problem

Of course... After I ask here, I figured it out... I needed a tail on the Left side of the shape vector.

2 rail sweep problem

What am I doing wrong here? I suppose it's me, but I haven't figured it out, yet.

The model I get from a 2 rail sweep doesn't match my vector shape.

I've attached the file, in case that'll help.

Thanks!

Re: Help Please

That looks like what I get when I use upcuts.... My downcuts are near perfect, and require almost no cleanup.

Re: Help Please

I'd use a downcut spiral bit. I get mine from 2L, Inc. I route lots of hard maple, and have great results with downcut spirals.

The cable came in today... Maybe I'll get it set up this weekend.

Re: Z Height Mapping Warped Door Panels?

Project update: I've been probed! I decided on a 3D probe rather than trying the "Tin Foil Hatting" of everything that needs mapped. I've got a cable on the way... which will plug into the back of my controller. I still need to figure out 3 (I think) things... How to set up Mach3 to take in the prob...

Nice work! Bonus points for matching trim, too.

Modeling resolution question

I started a new 20" x 36" Aspire job with 7x resolution in order to speed up the process to show a customer a rendering. I brought in a D&M model, modified it to customer spec, created tool paths, and then saved a shaded image, which the customer approved. Now I want to re-do it at 20x or 50x modeli...

Re: Z Height Mapping Warped Door Panels?

I suppose I'm making progress. - I'm now sure I don't want to use something like G-Code ripper or Autoleveller to modify my G-code after it's been created. - I definitely want to make a 3D model of the panel, and bring that into Aspire to work with. - Mach3 has a built in probing wizard. I found the...

Re: Z Height Mapping Warped Door Panels?

Ohhhhhhh.... The probing happens as a separate operation, then the G-Code is modified to fit the probe results. Hmmm... Maybe that'd work...

Of course, now I see the bit missing the contact and driving it into the material.

Re: Z Height Mapping Warped Door Panels?

Thanks for the tips. The g code ripper sounds interesting... but really risky for use with other peoples' doors. It might work if the whole panel wasn't being routed, but if I'm going to the edge, or a bit past on all sides of a panel, then no matter where that probe is, it'd come of at least one of...

Z Height Mapping Warped Door Panels?

It looks like I'll be 3D routing more & more door panels. These are already made doors, which usually means the panels are warped... Sometimes a little, sometimes a lot. Of course, that makes them more difficult to deal with than if I make the panel before the door is assembled. Here's the question....

Did you select all of the vectors at once, then add tabs?
