The Blue screen of Death
Not a question but merely an observation. My computer with windows 7 died and the only program I was worried about was Vectric software, so close to retirement the other programs are not so important these days. I bought a new computer with windows 10 and was amazed at how easy it was to re-install ...

Re: Testing the 3D Slicing Technique
Thanks John
The software is pretty amazing and I have had a lot of fun experimenting with the capabilities of the software on a small machine. I am still in hobby mode until I retire and I suppose then I will see about upgrading to Aspire.

Testing the 3D Slicing Technique
I was waiting until I could get my hands on some XPS blue foam to try this technique, I have a 6040 machine and was thinking that it may be possible with both the slice and tile to get a fairly large sized 3D model. I didn't try anything huge this time as I was more interested in trying the slice. T...

Re: Wolf's head re-visited
Nice work and a good solution. If you ever do another sliced model like that it would be nice to see a video of your procedure I am sure there would be quite a few that would be interested.

Re: Paduk or Padauk
Thanks for the info I guess this is definitely not Padauk but probably some Asian species that our our timber suppliers have named Paduk for whatever reason.

Re: Setting up a workshop
Ok I am very jealous of the huge well set out workshops some of you woodworkers have. I watch a fair bit of YouTube videos from USA on woodworking because it has always been a passion/hobby of mine . Your focus on safety and reducing the dust exposure is something you will be thankful for in years t...

Paduk or Padauk
I bought this length of dressed timber from Australia's equivalent of home depot because of the colour of the timber and then decided what to make with it later. My question is really about the timber because this was labeled as Paduk, it is about the same density as Pine and carves ok and it even s...

Re: Thanks for the help, but new question
I recently tried to use the 4th axis for indexing on a piece of 80 mm square pine but it didn't end well. As Leo suggested there was too much torque away from the center line and the piece moved. It was a bit of fun trying though but I ended up cutting the piece flat and just rotated the piece with ...

First impression was that you really did a great arrangement on the piece keeping the bark intact then I saw that you created the bark as well. Outstanding work .

Re: An old favorite made with a CNC
Thanks for sharing, I don't have room for a band saw but I should be able to make one on my small CNC . I showed my wife the picture and she loved the boxes so I will definitely make one for her. I think you aright about the different tones of the wood,

Re: Walking Stick -continued-
It looks great and I love the idea of adding a tiny shoe to the stick, I bet you get lots of comments from people you meet on the hiking trails.
