Re: Lettering Toolpaths
Hi Peter, How does one turn CV off? I have a Shark Pro Plus and don't know if that setting is available. -Eric I would have no idea but I imagine if it exists it will be on your controller somewhere. Failing that you could look at your GCode file and add G61 at the start and remove G64 which will a...

Re: Lettering Toolpaths
The first thing that occurs to me is you might have constant velocity turned on, on your machine and it is rounding the corners of your letters. Try turning CV off and see if it improves things. Interestingly enough the curved look of those letters isn't too bad. Maybe you should use the problem to ...

Re: PHOTO V CARVE Help
I don't know if there is a standard method for doing this but have a look at this thread.
It helped me out a lot with mine.

Re: Formula?
I hope I understand the question correctly. If you are using a 90 degree cutter the cutting width of the cutter is double it's depth. eg to cut 10mm wide at the top the cutter needs to be 5mm deep. If you are using the cutter to profile the side then the cutting width is equal to it's depth. If on t...

Re: HELP ! Those circles again...
Hi Isaac, It would pay to post the Gcode file if you would like to have it checked and eliminated. In the mean time the major cause of circles that aren't round is mechanical. The 2 places to look is Backlash in the machines X and Y axis or flex. From your drawing I would look seriously at the X axi...

Use the "Keyhole Toolpath" gadget under the Gadget menu on the top line.
It works a treat.

Re: Grain Direction....
Bob's right on the money.
Your line spacing must be more tham 100 percent or won't work. 120 is a good starting point. Photovcarve need the lines left by the spacing to create the picture.

The secret is to cut close to the grain not cutting across the grain as it will chipout.
It looks better if there is some angle to the cut but keep it shallow.
Seal the finishes cut before staining.

Re: Mistakes, I want to avoid the next time
If I was cutting something of that nature where to locate X,Y &Z zero point once it had been lost I would first set X & Y zero on my stump using a 60 degree cutter or similar. I would then pick a nice spot on the table somewhere out of the way and move the cutter to that point. I would clamp a piece...

Re: Vectric Labs!
I almost bought a Kinect today just because of these post. I almost did the same myself but unless it can be released as a stand alone software or I can figure out how to use the current open source drivers it will not be any good to me. I have Cut3d but not aspire. I can see something similar to t...

Re: Photoshop tricks & VCarve Pro/Aspire = photo v-carving...
Excellent Boomer52, Some great lateral thinking. I had a look at using the same process using Gimp Version 2.6 and found it under Filters, Distorts, Newsprint. The Spot function needs to be changed to "Line". You can set the angle and there are other options that can be set so it looks like you don'...

Re: New, need advice on how to do pictures.
VCarve Pro is not designed to do photo's. It can VCarve line drawings and letters as you have already worked out. It can also convert a line drawing to vectors but that is it's limit. Where you have seen a photo done in VCarve Pro it was imported from PhotoVCarve which Vectric make for this purpose....

Re: Webcast Interest?
I like the idea but as Bobbo say's the ability to catch a webcast can be difficult at the best of times and even harder for those of us on the other side of the world. Is there any reason that the webcast couldn't be archived on Youtube. This will save on your bandwidth and allow people unable to vi...

Re: Non-straight straight lines
Hi Mark, Had a look at the CRV file and back ploted the outline file. Both are spot on with straight sides so the problem is not what you are doing but what your machine is doing. I'm at a bit of a loss as to the cause. My initial thought was Backlash or slop in your X & Y axis and the cutter is dra...
