Re: Disable popups for successful operations?
without an error message it would be automatically "good". Hmm.. I first got a mac mini in 2009. There was one "defect" in it that took Apple about 12 years to "fix" to my mind. If you dropped down a menu and accidentally missed and clicked on one of the horizontal lines between menu choices instea...

Or a picture frame is a box top with a hole in it so what's good for one can be good for the other.

It might be a closed vector that has a small loop or one the doubles back upon itself. One could use the Vector Validator tool (the check mark icon) to see.

Re: Deep V Groove
It would be better to continuously cut out material from the left and right sides of the groove. Like many toolpaths there is a presumption that you are going to make sure that the tool doesn't crash. The chamfer toolpath is good at what it was made to do—putting a bevel on the edge of a piece of m...

Re: terms used in post processors
I noticed that they don't use the usual GCode calls (G20, G21) to dictate whether its imperial or metric. I suspect you haven't looked at every single post processor available. From the "Mach 2/3 Arcs (inch)" file: "([TOOLS_USED])" "[N]G00G20G17G90G40G49G80" "[N]G70G91.1" "[N]T[T]M06" Having said t...

Re: bugged up broken software.
First thing first: your choice of thread title is not helpful. The software may contain bugs but it is not inherently "buggy" or "broken". If I offered the thread title "Impatient user doesn't do the right thing" how would you feel? Second thing second: you really should re-evaluate your post and: a...

re: rest machining: just don't go too silly fine on the "Minimum Detail" setting. ...if you set your plunge rate to a fraction of your feed rate, the lower rate will "override" the higher rate. Not really. The plunge rate in Vectric products is used in two cases (that I know of): vertical engagement...

Have you propitiated the computer gods lately? Do you know that Hawaiʻian pizza is really Canadian? Have you wondered whether Old King Cole really was a merry old soul? Have you played twenty questions lately? Adrian's solution seems the most plausible. If this repeats itself or that doesn't work le...

Re: Deleting a Custom Variable
I'd vote for the notes route. I'm not sure how fiddling about with tool names is that much more elegant. I once saw someone hammering in some stringing inlay into a groove using a an engineer's square. It didn't make a very good hammer and by the end of the process it wasn't much of a precision squa...

Re: Drag knife gadget issues
I’m not saying: that you saw that thread and asked here anyway that you didn’t experience gcode output different from what I got I just gave you a candle (that it’s been mentioned before) and some matches (that the search will let you find that thread). You can sit in the dark or light the candle.

Re: Drag knife gadget issues
Also how hard would it be for VCarve to allow us to create a tool with 0 rpm so I don’t have to delete the M03 command line every time I want to run a drag knife tool path. Funny, this came up a month or two ago. The answer then was the same. The drag-knife toolpath <i>should</< save with an M0 as ...

Re: Deleting a Custom Variable
Once a tool is associated with a toolpath all connection with the tool database is severed. That way you can make changes in that toolpath and it doesn't affect any of the others this or any other project. There would be chaos if local changes were propagated back to the tool database.

Re: Deleting a Custom Variable
You might have to describe that better. Are editing the parameters as you are selecting the tool or after you have selected the tool and have clicked edit on the toolpath form?
