Re: Proud Text on 3D object

I believe I have a method for doing this. I’ll check in and see how others approach this. My initial thoughts are that it will require two CRV files. One to cut the text and one to 3D rough and finish. Both will need to import the 3D model just at different thickness. The 2D text will use “project t...

Re: Help a Complete Newbie - Please

When dealing wiith imported 3D files it’s best if you can extract the curves (vectors as VCarve calls them) from the source model. With STL files, though, it’s usually not an option. One command you will want to get familar with is the create a boundary from component (e.g. an imported STL) circled ...

Re: Pocket direction cut chaneg

If you use martin’s suggestion the line you will draw will be 60mm long leaving 2mm space on each end to the existing rectangle’s boundary.

If you want to use the existing rectangle you could use a profile toolpath set to cut inside.

Re: Stuck After Importing Vectors

Interesting. You’ve used the term “image” twice. Be careful images and vectors are two separate things. Images to the program are bitmap (a matrix of dots) pictures like JPG, PNG, BMP files. Whereas vectors are, generally, mathematically defined paths from point to point that can be found in files s...

Re: First 3D Project - Noob Problems

You might also want to use the “Edit passes…” button to make asymmetric pass depths. If you are cutting 12mm deep and your tool’s pass depth is 3mm you’ll get 4 passes each of 3mm. But the first one or maybe two passes will have very little V engagement and the last two will have much more. You coul...

Re: SB3 jog weird problem. Program in inches but jogs in MM

The usual cause of multiple copies of the same post are: double-clicking on the "Submit" button clicking on the "Submit" button but things seem to be taking too long so you click on the button again thinking that you haven't in the firt place By now you probably can't delete the duplicates. If you c...

Re: Dual Monitor Support in VCarve

I expect the poster is objecting to the existing "multiple document interface" where the 2D and 3D windows open within the VCarve containing window. Instead he is looking for the 2D and 3D windows to be separate outside of the VCarve containing window as with the two Excel documents below:   multi-w...

My guess would be the diameter of the cutter is greater than the slots' widths.

Re: Importing SVG with layers?

Bringing the SVG into Illustrator shows that it does have a layer named “Layer 1”:   illustrator.png   and looking at the SVG in a text editor verifies that:   svg source.png   Your screenshot showing that “it is done in layers” shows what the Illustrator screenshot above shows. One layer with eleme...

As with most Windows programs your browser should respond to pressing Ctrl plus the F key (Cmd plus F on macOS). A link you might want to bookmark is this link . If you scroll down a bit to all the images each icon on those image is click-able. So if you want to find information about the 3D Finishi...

Re: Help opening VCarve File

So you are saying, forget about the softwares limitations and redo the work that has already been done. No, I’m saying that in this instance you are wasting time, energy, and (apparently) money. The question is why does almost every other software program have the option to save in multiple formats...
