Re: SB3 jog weird problem. Program in inches but jogs in MM

The usual cause of multiple copies of the same post are: double-clicking on the "Submit" button clicking on the "Submit" button but things seem to be taking too long so you click on the button again thinking that you haven't in the firt place By now you probably can't delete the duplicates. If you c...

Re: Dual Monitor Support in VCarve

I expect the poster is objecting to the existing "multiple document interface" where the 2D and 3D windows open within the VCarve containing window. Instead he is looking for the 2D and 3D windows to be separate outside of the VCarve containing window as with the two Excel documents below:   multi-w...

My guess would be the diameter of the cutter is greater than the slots' widths.

Re: Importing SVG with layers?

Bringing the SVG into Illustrator shows that it does have a layer named “Layer 1”:   illustrator.png   and looking at the SVG in a text editor verifies that:   svg source.png   Your screenshot showing that “it is done in layers” shows what the Illustrator screenshot above shows. One layer with eleme...

Re: Searchng Help

As with most Windows programs your browser should respond to pressing Ctrl plus the F key (Cmd plus F on macOS). A link you might want to bookmark is this link . If you scroll down a bit to all the images each icon on those image is click-able. So if you want to find information about the 3D Finishi...

Re: Help opening VCarve File

So you are saying, forget about the softwares limitations and redo the work that has already been done. No, I’m saying that in this instance you are wasting time, energy, and (apparently) money. The question is why does almost every other software program have the option to save in multiple formats...

Re: First 3D Project - Noob Problems

As has been said this could be done without the need for 3D toolpaths which are going to take a lot of machining time compared to 2D toolpaths   32h + in my case. I'll stick to the moulding or chamfer. My supposition is that you are using the 3D finish on the flat area. If you tre...

Ah, martin is right about nesting not being available in Desktop. Looking at the documentation links here I selected Desktop but saw the “Plate Production” icon and mis-interpreted that as Nesting. Oops.

Re: Best way to set depth of cut

If you are using a 3D finishing toolpath you can’t "cut deeper” (make the details such as the stripes deeper) as the toolpath will always ride the bit on the model. The only way to “cut deeper” is to make the differences in Z between each surface larger. And that by scaling the z-height of the model...

Re: 3D tool-pathing; Roughing vs Finishing

I’m not sure that you’ve provided enough information in the question. Creating multiple toolpaths is trivial just keep clicking on the roughing toolpath icon. You could create a dozen if you really want to.

Re: Help opening VCarve File

Time is the factor here and I shouldn't have to reinvent the wheel as the file contains all of the toolpaths as well. I don’t know. You’ve probably spent more time on posts here lamenting the lack of backward save compatibility than if you just follow the instructions in the 2010 post to create the...

So far, I have only been machining in "2D", but now I am ready to embark on my first 3D project: a table top with knife-edge-edges.
If you use the moulding toolpath (or moulding + chamfer) you’ll still have a 2D project.
