Re: Tapered ball mill

What I was (clumsily) trying to convey by the terms "TBN tool path" and SBN tool path" are the tool paths generated by either using a TBN or SBN as the tool used to generate the machining tool path. What I'm asking is can you use the tool path generated by a SBN tool with a TBN loaded into the spind...

Re: Tapered ball mill

For scottp55 and/or Leo - where do you get your Chinese TBNs? scottp55 - I checked the website on the side of the container in your picture - it was a dead end. For all - when using a TBN - do you use a tapered BN tool path or a straight BN tool path? My limited experience demonstrated the TBN tool ...

Re: Material Setup Using Machine Bed as z-zero

Not familiar with your control software but your machine acts as if it thinks your material is thicker than it really is. I'd check your material thickness settings (critically important if zeroing on spoil board, not important if zeroing on surface).

Couldn't you just import the PDF file? Aren't they vectors?

Re: 2D Rope Border

Look at the "rest machining" tutorial that uses grapes as the subject (can't remember which one it is). There is a technique explained there which uses "create component from preview" then traces the new component to create 2d vectors from a 3d image. Very easy to do, endless possibilities of conver...

Re: Feeds and Speeds

Any advice on chipload numbers for vbits? Does chipload even matter? I carve at about 20 ipm , 14100rpm with a 2 flute 30 degree vbit with a tip diameter of .005. Chipload calculates out to .0007. Seems like a nonsensical number. Any thoughts? Scott That # only makes sense if the .005" wide part of...

I'd say it came out well. May I ask, what bit, what start and flat depths?

Nice technique.

Paul Rowntree does essentially the same thing in software with Skewcalc.

Re: New bar at my Golf Club

I'm trying to avoid asking a question which has (probably) already been answered and in my quest I came across this thread and the reference to "video D9, Modelling a Log Cabin." Can't find D9 on my disks or on the Vectric Site. Any help finding it? I'm trying to overlay a texture I created from a ....

I think he wrote he was running v4 and wondered why they wouldn't open - the website states for Aspire 3.5 yet apparently they will open in Aspire v4.5, but not v4.
