Re: 3D import Issue- STL and IGES files enlarged?
eliot actually, as i remember vertical walls gave more addition... but i dont know the exact explanation... importing a conturline, you can center the model to the imported contur.. imagine, where the model connecting to the modeling plane, aspire makes a ""transition"" however these transition pixe...

Re: 3D import Issue- STL and IGES files enlarged?
hi eliot i made you a sample to explaining a possible situation... long time before brian explained, when we import a triangulated file aspire put on some"" extra pixels"" it is actually dont change the model geometry... however it looks like larger, i mean aspire measure it larger... i attached a 3...

Re: 3DS file unwrapping
this model, by its geometry can not be succesfull for unwrapping... as i tried to give example like stretched arms, in this model the crown cause issue.. the solution is separate parts, and after mill parts, assembly them only the king body is easy for unwrapping... crown can be made from two side f...

Re: 3DS file unwrapping
one more point...
when you stated youre over on several succesful unwrapping, i was thinking you have only issue with fileformat...
all other question is clear... so this is the reason, i posted only two picture of aspire, and did not made video...

Re: 3DS file unwrapping
first picture is from accutrans, explaining how you can convert to 3ds an stl file i did not say, but you can convert 3ds file to stl too... just make sure i dont forget.... you can make your own test, if you have guessing fileformat is the cause... another two picture made from aspire... what do yo...

Re: tool path for horizontal tool
zac if your hole is placed on a board edge... then possible you have to draw with vectors the toolpath.. drilling toolpath works only from Z direction... moving your "horizontal drill" on X-Y plane you need to draw a continous vector, starting from outside of the material, and goes on x or y directi...

Re: Slicing a model on X axis
ray if you thinking on the decartes cordinata system, you can see you can rotate your model... rotating on x axis, you get different direction, and Y will be the Z... so after this you can slice with cut 3d if it is dont help, then you can try netfab... a free program, and you can slice stl files in...

Re: 3DS file unwrapping
i must have miss something... i dont see attached file... i made some small test.. a file converted to 3ds, imported and after i turned on in the toolpath preview the wrapping, the original model showed up so it shows the 3ds format itself wont cause issue.. viktor model geometry can cause unsuccesf...

Re: 3DS file unwrapping
hi wjfiles you can make a simple test on your own... accutrans read-write many of triangulated form... http://www.micromouse.ca/ try to load the 3ds file in accutrans, and save as stl... as much i know, stl file can be"""only triangles"" and unlimited of, while 3ds file can contain quads... also 3ds...

Re: tool path for horizontal tool
hi zac i assuming you have some type of drill, or migth be sawblade mounted on a rigth angled axis... virtually, you can draw out the vectors and apply the OFFSET that this horizontal tool have... first try to contact manufacturer of your router, what need to be described in the gcode... some contro...

Re: Converting imported stl to a 2d vectored image
if you dont have aspire, you could try some other solution.. first of, this is more complex as it looking for first... i think the way you can go making the body, and wings separated and assembly them... to work anyway with this scanning, i think you need to fix the stl file... 3dcoat has auto retop...
