Yup, we should be able to just toss some material on the old bed of the machine and PRESTO!! Of course, if we are running a business we will tout how our products are "hand crafted" (that is because they are made out of wood and somewhere along the line a human being may have touched them).

Obviously Vectric does not have unlimited resources, so myself, I would rather see that effort go into something like adaptive machining. It would be nice to quit using half a tool diameters length on tools.

From what I can see, all the "solutions" presented so far actually alter the geometry. If I understand the OP's post correctly what he wants to do is NOT strectch anything.
