Re: Fillets on stub tenon

Thanks for the responses. I used a 2 rail to make the tenon, including the fillet on top. It worked fine but the I didn’ like how it looked ad scrapped the fillets. I forgot the component from preview tool. Thanks. I will try to remember it.

Re: z height problem

I would leave the control box on in this situation. The steppers or servos will lock the axis. For whatever reason if the axis drops at all this will happen. Whether it should or not is beside the point. I did a turning a few years ago with some complex resin and metal inlays and kept the box on for...

Fillets on stub tenon

I want to place 3/8" fillets around this stub tenon where it meets the leg. I can't figure or remember how to do it.

Re: Thin Plywood

You might try certainlywood.com. They are a veneer supplier and have 1/8” veneer in some species. They sell large or small quantities. The pieces might need flattening. The website will show the specific flitches in stock with the pricing.

Re: Tenons

The strength is determined by the weakest part and a1/4” wide tenon is not that strong. A 1/4” tenon in a 3/4” board is too weak. The tenons should be sized to half the thickness as should the mortises in the same sized board. This gives you two 3/16” mortise sides for a total of 3/8” the same as th...

Re: rotary work

The top and bottom are both segmented. If you don’t segment them you have end grain showing.

Re: rotary work

Everything was cut on the rotary. I have been doing it a long time and gluing up the segments is not really problem.

Nice designs. Nice seat. I like the bench seat with the bottom profile.

rotary work

Here are a couple of church candle stands I did a while back. I used to have a Legacy semi manual setup for spiraling work with the Magnate bits. It worked really well and made me good bit of money but the rotary indexer is much more versatile and has allowed me to go well beyond the Legacy/Magnate ...

Re: Inlay Trouble

A 27 X 27 inlay would be difficult to clamp without a press. Your problem may be simply a clamping issue. Inlays require even pressure over the entire surface.

Re: gcode resetting my surface zero to Z-0.200"

I do not see how a driver or software issue can move the z and reset the z zero. I think that you have a mechanical issue. I would start with the easiest, simplest and most obvious first. Change to a new router collet and a different bit even if it is not the same type of bit. Run the file. If it st...

Re: Vertical cuts not what expected

The file looks fine. Perhaps you didn't locate the material at 0,0 or did not zero the machine.

You might want to consider a small last pass thickness and a 0.03" separate last pass. It won't solve your current issue but will give you a better tenon.

Re: gcode resetting my surface zero to Z-0.200"

it seems that you are revealing your problem piecemeal a little at a time which makes it hard. It seems that your issue is a mechanical one with the z axis. Knowing that you recently modified this axis definitely caught my attention and is the first place I would look. If it worked before the mods a...
