Re: linear lines not consistant
Do not adjust axis resolution settings by cutting. Use a steel rule (Starrett is best) a narrow angle vbit and use nearly the full travel of each axis

Re: Cuts different than path
I made a mistake in my post above. It should have read: If your machine XY Zero is not in the lower left corner.......
You can still use the center of material for your WCS XY datum or offset, it's that your axes are most likely opposite of what you think they are.

Re: Cuts different than path
I don't know anything about your machine, but back when I used to provide Vectric Training Seminars I showed these pics and told my students: "If you're XY datum was not in the lower left corner of the table, you are standing in the wrong spot!"

With a little imagination the software will generate a tool path to do most any woodworking or metal cutting I could think of in over 15 years. I guess I am in the minority as I have only used the toolpath or 3d viewer a handful of times

Re: Semi Auto Tool Change
"How does the tool path(s) function in VCarve know that without it coming from the Vectric software when the post is created? Isn't this where the "toolchange" trigger needs to live?" This was answered in the second line of my answer: "In order to take advantage of this feature you will have to use...

Re: Semi Auto Tool Change
The ability to use multiple tools, manually changed within a single file is a product of the controller software. Most controllers support this feature and for the most part use an "M6" or "M06" macro. In order to take advantage of this feature you will have to use or write a post processor that has...

Re: Spoilboard, PVC Perf or MDF
I'm not going into the explanation here, but no the "pegboard" type vacuum bleeder boards do not provide better hold down. Most that test them against proper (read as porous) liteweight MDF (read as not big box store MDF) find that the MDF provides much better holding force. I say this in spite of w...

Re: 'Negative' Start 'Depth'?
Z axis offsets, temporary or permanent, are a feature of the controller software. Most controllers (using keyboards) have them. For example with Centroid I would enter a temp Z offset via the G52 command (G52 Z 0.375) for the duration of the surfacing file and then simply turn it off when I wanted t...

Same here. 16 years and never have used them.Adrian wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 10:27 amBeen using the software for nearly 20 years and never used the grid (don't need to). We all work in different ways.Tex_Lawrence wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 12:41 amTrust me, you'll want to have the grid showing at times (if not all the time.)

Re: Connecting Nema23 2.45N.m High torque stepper to Xcontroller
You will need to know which terminals on your drive are A+, A-, B+, B- (A pair & B pair) With the motor on the bench, usually with a pully or something on the shaft to make it easier to turn..... Turn the motor, while turning, touch the red wire to each of the others and find out which pair makes th...

Re: Setting cut depths when zeroing off bed
How can the top be theoretical? It is a finite 3 dimensional object that can be measured. It may be inconsistent, even vary greatly, but measurable. If you wish the leave a certain amount of material under a pocket, simply enter "z-.5=" into the depth box. Where Z is the system variable for material...

Re: Gadget/Toolpath for cutter direction?
You should be able to find (on Google) a metalworking CAM program for "Sheets" that outputs tangential code for a rotary axis.
Normal convention says that a rotary axis that rotates around the first vertical axis (Z) would be referred to as "C"
