Re: How much of the pocket will be remove

Just ran you file on my machine on a scrap piece of wood. It came out just as the drawing. 1.5x4.0 inside box 1/8" groove and 1.75x4.25 outside 1/8" deep pocket. You might check to make sure you're using the correct post processor. Also put measure your bit size. I know it was bought as a .0625, but...

Re: How much of the pocket will be remove

Don't know about the Shark, but check to see if there's an axis calibration. From your measurements one axis is under cutting and the other is over cutting.

Re: Glue ups

Just a thought, if you're first milling the two surfaces on the CNC can you do both glue sides up and create a couple (or more if you'd like) 1/4" pocket holes in the glue sides in mating locations and put a short 1/4" dowel. You can use as much glue as you'd like....

Re: Update & Pics using Photo Vcarve to Relief Carve

I've just finished reading through this topic and I'd like to thank TReischl for starting this thread and everyone for all the great input. I've been messing around trying to learn how to do some 2.5d carving and this helps a lot. I am trying to learn Blender and have been going through all the tuto...

Re: Dovetail bit

Thanks, I found that after posting the question.

Sure seems like adding the ability to do undercut form tools would be a good addition to VCP, especially for the preview since making a mistake on setting up an undercut tool path can spell disaster for a job.

Dovetail bit

I'm trying to add a dovetail bit to the Form Tools section of the Tools Database. I keep running into the Error message "No suitable vectors selected for Form Tool". In trying to sort this out I discovered that you can't have an undercut on the tool as VCarve can't handle the undercut in it's calcul...

First attempt at Stacked Text

My wife is involved with the local American Cancer Society Relay for Life. They wanted personalized plaques to give to people donating to the Relay for Life Luminaria program so I got the job. I decided to try using the Stacked Text method to give dimension to the plaque and to make them different t...

Re: visible steps in Vcarve file

Check your .5" 90 degree V bit. Sometimes the steps can be caused because the V bit isn't exactly 90 degrees.

Re: Texas Plaque

KeithW,

Good question. As I said I was using a scrap piece of junk plywood and the last bit of scrap big enough to cut out the mount had a big knot hole in the back side. So I filled in the knot hole with wood filler and covered the back with green felt to spruce it up a bit.

Texas Plaque

A friend of mine wanted a Texas plaque for a European mount on a deer he shot this season. Not knowing exactly what he wanted I decided to do a prototype for him to make sure it was what he wanted before I cut it in some good wood. So I took a piece of old scrap 3/4" plywood and made the plaque. He ...

I bought a 3D knife hand file off ebay, I think it was $7, and it worked great in VCarve Pro 8. I also added text over the 3D image.

Re: Spindle speed

If you'd like to connect you spindle speed control to your Mach3 SuperPID is a great option http://www.vhipe.com/product-private/SuperPID-Home.htm
And it compensates for load.
