Re: Rough and Finish pass not matching toolpath!
I used a 1/4" end mill for the rough, 1/8" ball nose for the finish. If that is the preview you are seeing in Aspire and not getting it at the machine, then you need to look at the machine or it's control system. I'm happy you told us it was Mach 3 as there are a lot of posts on here about how diff...

Re: Rough and Finish pass not matching toolpath!
I'm having a hard time seeing how what was actually cut was the same toolpath generated using the Aspire previews you show. When I duplicate your steps (with the exception of the profile pass to clean up the edge) the corners are more square than what you got which agrees with the toolpath preview ...

Rough and Finish pass not matching toolpath!
Hi, Either I am having a problem with the rough and finish tool paths creation or i don't understand something. The first two images are of the left side and right side of a project I am working on. The images show the edges of where the rough and finish toolpaths have made cuts. The third and fourt...

Re: Vectric Newsletter - Issue 27 - February 2012
Hi, I really like the Buffalo Nickel project! Now I can tell my friends i am making money with my CNC machine. (LOL?). I would like to know the size of the silver metal B coating and the black wax jars used to "paint the bank". It's hard to tell from the photos in pdf file. I have enlarged the size ...

Re: Mayan Calendar
Hi, I'll show you mine! This is my 24 inch diameter Mayan calendar. It is made of European Beech wood. I applyed a paint mask before i did the carving. The carved areas are painted with black acrylic paint and finished with two coats of clear arylic spray paint and one cloat of polyurethine. I used ...

Re: Help with the workbase
PaulRownTree, I am not sure exactly what to call the material I used. Home Depot had plenty of it. It was 1" x12" x 12' and cost about $45 a board. I had to buy two to cover my table. It had a wood grain surface one one side but i planed that off. It machined very nicely. I used a forrester bit to d...

Re: Help with the workbase
Mark, I understand that MDF will absorb moisture and swells unevenly if you cut off the top layer. In my case i bought some "plastic wood" 1 x12 decking material at Home Depot. Bolted that to the MDF. It planned ver nicely. My router was not perfectly perpendicular to the table and cut small 0.010 i...

Great Job!
I know that a great job is more than the software. I would like to see more photos of your DIY CNC machine!

I looked a little harder at the .crv file and think it is good. I must have something wrong with my machine. Sorry for the mix up.

Re: Free Project "The Paradise Box" for VCarve Pro & Aspire!
Hi Michael and all, I really like the paradise box. I have had a "problem" construction the box and thought i would see if anyone else had the problem also. I cut the two sides. they are exact matches but they are not mirror images of each other. In other words you have to turn one side over so the ...
