Re: V12 ToolPath Preview Hard to See
Perhaps posting a before and after screenshot might be of use? Windows has a built-in snipping tool for taking screenshots and saving the image to a file. You can even draw highlights and annotations. The saved image file (png or jpg) can be uploaded as an attachment here. https://youtu.be/O_55eg00H...

Re: VCarve Version 12 is OUT NOW 🎉
That should be v11.5 can't be patched to v12.00x From the "Program Updates" page: Please note you MUST have upgraded to the version shown under 'file updates' via your V&CO account before you can use the patch updates. For example, you must have upgraded to version 11.5 via V&CO to use the 11.55 pat...

Re: V12 COMING APRIL 2024 🎉
Perhaps a link to the help files for version 12 would lead people to read up on how the program works (and has been changed) before beleaguering the Vectric support people?
Probably not.
Probably not.

Re: V12 COMING APRIL 2024 🎉
The new way is going against hundreds of hours of muscle memory. :) I recently partially tore the nail off my left middle finger (the "left click" finger for my mouse). Left-clicking was a pain so I swapped the mouse buttons around so the left index finger was the primary click. Despite 40 years of...

Re: vcarve 12 exporting really high z, why?
same file just exported from 11.5 and 12. That is yet to be determined. Since you have both files you could run them through a file difference program (or website such as this one ) to see what the differences are. Look for G0 commands that have different Z components. Especially ones that say a Z ...

A link that I've had in the "bookmarks" for awhile now from FixitMike: "Diamond drag vs V bit for plastic?".

Re: Bottoming out a collet nut
Of course my mention of checklist is a gross simplification meant to cover a goodly amount of cases. Edge cases abound, though. As you have pointed out examining the project and reasoning about what can and cannot be accomplished is far more useful than merely having the software balk because the to...

Re: Bottoming out a collet nut
I've been viewing this post mostly with bemusement. In all the, by now thousands, of jobs I've cut, I have only "crashed" a collet nut a handful of times. And those "crashes" have been merely friction rubs. (Scorched MDF is kind of pretty.) A part of the checklist of things to do while planning a to...

Could it be that it never was there in 10.x? Have you looked in the tool database?

Re: Dimension Font Change
Don't get me wrong I think the majority of development time should be spent at maintaining and improving the core functionality of the software—toolpaths. (It would make those who've been—for years now—requesting trochoidal milling happy.) For example. I just cut 6 projects of cherry where I used of...

Re: Maybe a dumb Question
Searching is your friend. Entering what you quoted into DuckDuckGo gave me this link . Is that more or less the tool you have? If so, the specifications can be derived from what is there: R0.75*20*D6.35*50 Measurements in millimetres R0.75: tip radius 20: cutting edge length (a.k.a. flute length) D6...

Re: Dimension Font Change
If v12 doesn't contain such a thing and you are thinking about sending a feature request perhaps instead of a simple tool to change already established dimensions your feature request to Vectric might be: An annotation style system akin to the one in Rhinoceros 3D where any changes affect every inst...

Re: V12 COMING APRIL 2024 🎉
[Sigh...] When it is ready there will be a formal announcement here. If you want you can go to the Vectric homepage and click the reload button on your browser every half-hour until it changes from version 11.55 Out Now to version 12 Out Now. (I'd suggest taking breaks for eating and sleeping). 8)
