Re: How can you speed up the up-and down motion of a carve line?
Randall has pointed out the two things that will affect Z axis plunge and retract speed. For jobs like you describe, and many others, I will set plunge speed the same as cut speed. Rapid speed is dependent on settings in your controller software/hardware. Check that is set at an appropriate max velo...

Plasma tool in database
I have always used "endmill" as my plasma tools in the database. Eg, 1.5mm dia, 1mm depth of cut, speed 3000mm/min. This has worked fine for me. However there is a tool type called "Plasma Cutter" selectable in the database. I know I can be a bit slow but I can not make head or tail of it. What has ...

Re: Plasma cutter
I use Aspire for plasma toolpaths. Have done for a number of years now. Not because it is the most feature rich software for this purpose, but I have it, and am familiar with it, and it does all I need for plasma toolpaths. It requires a PP written for plasma. The necessary plasma specific things ne...

Re: Plasma Cutting Module
Did not realize there were some plasma PPs provided. Had a quick look at them and as expected they rely on specific M codes from within the controller software. It may seem a little daunting but writing or modifying an existing PP is not that difficult. You must understand the steps required to prob...

Re: How do you Home a 4th Axis
There is an NPN sensor inside the box and I’m fairly sure I’ve wired it up correctly but I’m stumped. I don’t even know if I need to home it at all. So you believe the home switch is wired up correctly. First thing would be to see if it is working. On the diagnostics page look to see if Mach3 is re...

Easter Bunny
Probably not what you are accustomed to seeing on this forum.
I use Vectric software for all my cnc plasma projects.
Made this simple cutout for the benefit of my grand children, who I am unable to visit on this virus affected Easter Sunday.

Re: Plasma CNC
Not a lot of activity here about plasma CNC. PlasmaSpider is an active forum to do with plasma. I use Vectric CAM software to create my toolpaths for plasma. That is mostly because I already have it for use with other CNC machines. It is perfectly capable for Plasma use. However the vast majority of...

I use a PP that I wrote. There is a good PP editing guide in the help menu.

Re: Best Machine Controller for 4th axis
I use UCCNC for 4th axis. Works fine.
UCCNC supports G93 code which is great for 4th axis.

Re: Rotating degrees/min
Does the Probotix control support G93 code?
A lot of controllers have inbuilt methods to compensate rotary axis feedrate. Mach3 does.
Almost all controllers will support G93 code.
Vectic software will output G93. Not sure all versions do.

Roly
If you have zeroed the A axis and entered A90 in the MDI and the A axis did not move then,
you have a machine setup problem. Chasing Vectric Post Processor problems is pointless at this stage.
Get the A axis connected and set up in Mach3 properly and then you can move onto any futher issues.

Re: Need advice about rotary turning
All WHAT did was slow the whole system to an absolute crawl.
Zero the A axis DRO
Type A360 in the MDI and press enter.
Does the A axis move? Does it do a full turn?

Re: Need advice about rotary turning
If the Goode is calling A axis moves but A axis is not moving, then that is a machine setup issue, not a PP problem.
Is it that the rotary axis does not move or are you just talking about the toolpath view in Mach3?
Those are two different issues.

Re: Cutting into area that ruins the part question
I have never seen this. Is it possible to upload the code used in this example. "What would be easily cleared when the material is uwrapped flat can often end up in the way once the toolpaths are bent around the actual cylindrical model." This is a misunderstanding of the wrapping of a toolpath. The...
