Re: Wrapping With Mach
I am having the same problem as Dave (I think :? ). I have everything working but am confused about the speed of the rotary. I resolve this by putting in the diameter of the stock in Rotation Diameters (Settings Screen) within Mach3. Was wondering if the PP for Vectric could be modified to automatic...

Re: DXF Import Bug
I will look for the explode option in Alibre 11.2. Haven't made enough money cutting parts yet to buy v.12 even for only $200. Is this an option only after re-importing the Alibre exported dxf? Either way I will look at both options.
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Any way to set bits to same depth in router?
I understand that some people put rubber O rings on their bit to both set them to the same spot and to also keep them from bottoming out in the router (which keeps them from tightening properly). On my list of things to try as I have the same issue.

Re: Rotary Tutorial
Awesome! I would encourage Vectric to add this to their Technical Archive. Thank you so much for doing this.

Re: Whats the deal with no undercutting?
Steve, What you are advocating is sorta like the approach used in the Dovetailing technique seen in my post of http://www.vectric.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=5811 where you use an undercutting bit but tell the software that you are using a straight bit. If you know how deep you want to cut the let...

Re: DXF Import Bug
Thanks, I have emailed the support folks. I'll respond here if they come up with something. Maybe with some luck they will be able to fix this in a future release. :

Re: DXF Import Bug
That's a great tip, I appreciate it. I've tried a handful of different fonts, but they all are rounded and had the same issue. I'll scour the internet for an simpler font like autodesk's.

Re: DXF Import Bug
R12 huh ... Alibre won't export that old, only R14 and newer. Was yours able to open up my file as is, or only after you saved in R12?
I'll try to Aspire update and let you know. I wonder what the difference between the two files are.

Re: DXF Import Bug
I don't own autocad, but the free eDrawings program (from Solidworks) opens the files perfectly. So does DWGEditor from IntelliCad. So if there is something non-standard in the export, at least they ignore it. Why does Aspire have to crash? It could at least say, "Format not supported, unexpected ta...

DXF Import Bug
I've tried DXF 2007, 2004, 2000, and version 14 all with the same problem. If I export a DXF from Alibre Design that has dimensions; and load that into Aspire (2.503) it will crash instantly. I've open the DXF files with DWGEditor and a couple other programs and they have no problems. Has anyone see...

I really like your dust shoe idea, but how in the heck do you change router bits with that thing attached?

Re: Pocket within Pockets
 Ok, those are good ideas. I generated the dxf from Alibre, I will see how easy it is to expand the drawings there first. But I'll also play with the data entry mode. That seems fairly easy way to make sure I don't mistakenly drag something I didn't mean to. I like the layering idea, since I w...

Re: Pocket within Pockets
Is there a way to grow the side with the assurance that I don't change any other dimensions? I want to make sure I don't mess anything up even the slightest. I've watch my father try to do this, and he always zooms in to line things up precisely, and it seems like a huge waste of time when the dxf i...

Pocket within Pockets
I've got a pocket within a pocket that isn't clearing completely when I generate tool paths. I have a feeling this is going to happen a lot with the parts I'm importing from DXF so I'm wondering what is the safest way to solve my issue. See the file below. The problem is that Aspire refuses to cut o...
