i attended the wood show in toronto on sept 25,there were a good display of cnc machines form the big beasts to the little not so reasonable to buy. Well not sure what to say but the gentleman that did the program put all the specs into the mach 3 file (*.tap) and i also found the machine to move like crazy. In fact on the backside cut which makes the router go deeper and deeper towards the outer edge i cut back a bit on the feed rate a bit. Sec...

11x11x 3/4 white pine 5 toolpaths 3 tool bits and 34 min ,found it very fast almost scarey
Still needs a clear coat but it looks ok
I find this 3d stuff really interesting

same material butterenut but on the finish toolpath i chaged the res or stepover to 10%
instead of 14% and it took much longer but a better cut ,still not perfect because butternut tears
like canvas

requires a bit of sanding and the eyes/mouth needs to be popped out

Thanks Jim but until i can design a lathe for the machine and possibly do something like you're doing---i still have a long road ahead. The one real big stumbling stone is that when you're designing and cutting out projects its ok and you feel like you know ,then leave it alone say a month or 3 week...

the material is white pine 3/4 thick 11.25x11.25 and i screwed it down to the table (4 #6 screws)(marked an x on both sides dead centre) I machined out the backside first then moved the head back and flipped the board over ,turned ok, guess i was real close. I really didn't know how it was going to ...
