Re: Failed to open file ... Code 10

Thanks LGM. I did save the changes to a new version of the file. It is this file that I can't open. :( The previous days' file I can still open. But it doesn't have the four hours work of work that I did yesterday. I was able to recreate enough of the work that I could begin doing some of my cuts. j...

Failed to open file ... Code 10

I spent 4 hours on this file yesterday, building toolpaths, reorganizing models, etc. Now I can't open it. I have never seen this error before, and I've searched through the forum for some type of explanation, with unsatisfactory results. Does anyone know what this means? I'd hate to spend 4 hours r...

deep cut ball nose bits

I have a job requiring a 3d cut with a 2 - 2.5 inch depth of cut. I've looked at whiteside and precise bits, but neither seem to carry a bit that can do this depth of cut. Either tapered or straight would be fine with a 1/4 inch end. I'm doing a 36 x 80 door overlay, and anything smaller might take ...

Is this a v8 feature? If so, then I have one more reason to upgrade.

Re: opinion on African Mahogany

I don't think it is too grainy. It is easy to see what the plaque is, and to read the lettering.

I like the look of wood. I hate it when clients want something painted, and covers the grain of the wood.

This looks great just the way it is.

Re: trying to figure out an arc

I had to take my turn. I had to remember a long way back to my high school math. As stated previously, it is a geometry problem, and can be solved by using a little bit of algebra without any complex calculations required. Pythagorean Problem.jpg Two key pieces I needed to remember the Tangent of an...

That looks great. Nicely carved. As for finish, Leo nailed it. You can purchase an MDF primer, it makes a TON of difference in the finish.

Re: Knife handles

What if you were to take the handle off of the knife and scan the back? It would be more or less flat wouldn't it? I guess that wouldn't really fix the problem of scaling if the scanner is changing the size of the image.

That's great Scott. I had a local store recently ask to stock some of my work. They want to sell on consignment though. Figured I'd give it a shot. ;) Fingers crossed.

Re: Guitars - Vectric - Alex Navarro

Alex, I have been watching your work for the last few years, and your guitars are fantastic.

I've always wanted to build one, and I think that I will do just that, though it will have to wait until after the Christmas rush.

Thank you,

Re: New Cribbage Board

Scott, the brush that you linked will certainly make a quicker job that the tooth brush I've been using. I'll have to get one of those. I like doing the outline board with the detailed cover. It really opens up options for custom designs, and it really isn't any more difficult that doing an oval or ...
