Re: Holes in a perfect surface
OK, so how does it look in a Gcode visualizer? What happens when you machine it? Do you let the machine run and these borings do happen in the middle of the toolpath, with the machine going on on the right path after that or do you stop and go to fix things? You can post the gcode if you don't want ...

Re: Holes in a perfect surface
Hi Jens, If you don't mind, post the file. I do not know Mach3, does it include a 3D Gcode visualizer? If yes, do you see these plunges? If you don't see them, it's a machine-Mach3 issue. If they are here and if the simulation is correct, it means it is a postpro- Mach3 issue. If Mach3 does not incl...

Re: Can I "draw" a vector from an equation?
Hi K, I guess there are analog apps on the Windows side, but if you have access to a Mac, you can use the free Grapher app. It used to be part of the standard pre-installed apps, I don't know if it's still the case with recent OS versions. Very powerful, very quick. Can export the result in JPEG, TI...

Re: tutorial question
OK, same problem, same solution. One of the bears must obviously have its leg behind the other. So you'll have to cut this part and the other hidden parts you wanna hide. So repeat steps 1 & 2 with both bears. Cut and combine the resulting vectors in order to cut the bears at the right places to get...

Re: tutorial question
Hi Wolffie, Not sure it's what you mean by getting rid of the green part, but if you want a bear to stand before the other one, then: 1) select the frontmost bear 2) Model>Create vector boundary from selected component 3) select the other bear and this vector 4) Model>Split selected component 5)hide...

Re: Font Problem
Yeah, I know I can do that, but that doesn't fix what's broken. Do you have so much text or do you use so intensively this font that you cannot apply Martin's workaround? I never had a text long enough to worry with bad fonts, so I never care correcting them and just use this kind of tricks. More t...

Re: How to do an Undercut - a workaround
Some word processors have a search/replace tool that would make quick work for replacing Ys with Zs. Very clever trick, and a perfect excuse for the word processor feature. +1 Richard probably used the notepad++ replace function. I'm not familiar with regular expressions, but as NotePad++ supports ...

Re: Help Converting a masterCAM file to VCarve or Aspire
If you don't mind, you can post your email address, provided you obfuscate it for robots.
ie my.address@provider.com -> my dot address at provider dot com
insert more useless text, as I guess robots algorithms are always improving

Re: Plexiglas painting anomaly
Buying it that way. I'm not sure it will make a big difference after it is paint, as it is very soft.Xxray wrote:Do you mean like buying it that way, or roughing it up with sandpaper ?

Re: Plexiglas painting anomaly
If I'm not mistaken, in this particular case, you don't need glossy plexiglas.
Maybe you'll get a better painting adherence with frosty plexiglas.

Re: Plexiglas painting anomaly
I have no idea on how to check that, but maybe the clear is not the issue and simply acts as a revealer of an underlying problem with the painting. The crackles really seems to propagate from the edges: maybe the painting adherence is basically somewhat low on the PMMA and is anew lowered by the etc...

Re: Newbie help to handle this piece
With a 3mm end mill, you will in theory have no more remaining material. Just simulate it to verify.Daimiros wrote:i try to do a profile with 2mm endmill outside. The grid is OK but in each center of the cross lines it leave a little of material (attached image)

Re: Newbie help to handle this piece
If the grid lines are 4mm wide and you are using a 4 mm I would draw the grid and machine on the lines. the pockets use the pocket tool path and the drill tool path for the holes easy peasy Makes sense. I read the first post too quickly, and there was no toolpath in the Aspire file, so didn't notic...
