Re: Off topic

Good news. But it doesn't explain why it took 18 hours. If it's free, can you provide a link to the model?

Re: Tools Today Spektra End Mills

I totally agree with Adrian except for natural wood. A good HSS bit provides a better cut (especially in soft wood) then a carbide one and can last a long time if "running an rpm and feed rate appropriate to the cut". Look at the technical specs and not at marketing gibberish (I share Steven's opini...

Re: Off topic

I've had a 3D printer since 2017 and I've never had any luck restarting from a line of gcode like I can on my CNC. If the printer controller doesn't manage this as the new one, I guess it's possible if you add all the set-up instructions (bed and nozzle heating, ...) before the first line to execut...

Re: Arbitrary circles on Snapmaker

So the final answer is that the Marlin library that the Snapmaker and ncviewer uses both have an issue interpreting certain G2/G3 arcs which are produced by the postprocessor. No, the answer is probably that your controller and your postprocessor are not in the same IJ mode. And you will get this i...

Re: Seriously bad bug in VCarve Pro 11.5

As Adrian demonstrated, Vectric improved DXF import, which now manages units correctly correctly, which is obviously not the case of TurboCAD dxf export. The old behavior was much better where the imported file fit itself to the measurement system of the thing you were working on in VCarve, or give ...

Re: Arbitrary circles on Snapmaker

Unfortunately, I couldn't find an online simulator providing the absolute vs incremental choice for circular interpolation. GWizard G-Code Editor provides many options, including this one. With incremental mode in the post settings, the preview shows the circles you got when machining. With absolute...

Re: Arbitrary circles on Snapmaker

What happen if you cut a simple circle with your machine? Just create a single pass cut, at low speed, and do not actually cut some material. Just do an air cut above your table or spoil board. Does the machine move as expected? Your post processor may produce a different flavour of G02 g-code than ...

Re: best sheet goods to use

I only use plastic and resin based materials for exterior work now. In my opinion, that's the only way to get long lasting signs (but I couldn't test Medex nor Extera). This one was made machining a PU mold, then manufacturing the sign with laminated epoxy (or polyester). Very expensive, but as we ...

Re: best sheet goods to use

HDPU (High Density PolyUrethane) is available in several densities.

You won't have the drawback Steven mentioned for MOD but it's pricey, as any material that withstands rain.

Easy to machine, easy to paint.

Re: 3mm end mill breaks

Cutting MDF with a small downcut bit is a bad idea as you will push the sawdust in the groove instead of getting it out to ease the work of the bit.. Use the downcut but for the first pass (about 2mm) in order to get a clean cut, without pull-out, then use an upcut bit. You won't be able to cut MDF ...

It's the CSV package

Adrian, I didn't knew Paul passed away. We had some discussions about his topo package, and Paul was a really nice guy.

Re: VFD Error Codes

Hi Wannabe, Nothing in your controls reveals a clear fault. Measuring the current was a good idea. I didn't ask for it because it may be dangerous if you don't have the proper equipment. You wrote: "At 10,000 RPM the current draw was 2.5, 2.6, 2.7." But after that, you only give 2 values by speed ra...
