Re: Praying cowboy Problem
The dish component is smaller then your vectors so it tries to cut outside the dish and within the vectors, so you end up with that cut in the outside fringe. See my picture.

Re: Knife handles
Thanks Boomer, sounds good. I'll try and scan the handles on the flat side. Should have less error.
Good to know it's a try and test method. Thanks.

Re: Brewery Sign
Great job, I love that you added the hops models on top of the sign for a great relief. They really jump out. Nice.

Re: Knife handles
Ok sounds good. I'll go with what I measure and not the scan I suppose. My first try so I'll do it in soft wood first! Thanks!!

Knife handles
I want to take a knife I have and make wooden handles for it. I know folks do this all the time and I have been looking around. I just wonder if anyone can tell me why my knife scan picture doesn't match up with what I measure. I have attached a pic of it here. Is it picture resolution or what is go...

Re: return to zero help
I use a SMOOTHSTEPPER with Leadshine drives. Mine are AM882 but I think they are outdated now. But they work awesome, digital drives with current reduction when idle. AT least go to their page and look at the drives they sell, they are a good product. I am very happy with mine.

Re: Plexiglas painting anomaly
Yes a vinyl mask. Paint it and peel it off right away while still wet. Then no issues. I think it will work fine for you.

Re: Plexiglas painting anomaly
Could you not paint, mask, use drag bit, spray clear then remove mask, then paint?? Then the clear would only be in the "etched portions, where you want it anyway.

Re: Plexiglas painting anomaly
Maybe it's because on wood the clear coat can soak into something, on plexi it sits and ruins the paint. I was using Krylon clear coat over a mask to seal the cut letters. I found it was shrinking the mask and maiking the resulting paint job look bad as the paint would leak under the now deformed ma...

Re: need tapered bit data
That might work, but I am very sure you need to put in half the angle as it is the side angle not the whole angle so a 6.2 Deg is entered as 3.1 deg.

Re: First Stacked Text Attempt
Oh good to know mobius, thanks. I haven't had any luck with a V carve path as it cut away portions of the top text when cutting the bottom text, but I will try it as an engraving toolpath.
