I was referencing Aspire functions. I would go with what Michael said.

Re: Woodgrain first attempt- looking for advice and tips

Are you using Aspire or V Carve Pro? The first two pics in your example are 3D carved. The last one is V carved. If you are not using Aspire your best option would be to do as Michael said and cut pockets for the lettering.

Re: Woodgrain first attempt- looking for advice and tips

One more thought would be to use the kerning tool to spread out your lettering for a more uniform look and allow your draft to splay outward without touching each other.

Re: Woodgrain first attempt- looking for advice and tips

Put a draft on the text so the bit doesn't hit the edge If you use a tapered bit I would double that angle. If your using a strait ball nose then you will want to go even more. Make sure to use the cookie cutter to to re generate your text vectors.

Re: Woodgrain first attempt- looking for advice and tips

Great points from Michael, You can also create a platform for all the items you are getting interference with. Expand it out at least half the diameter of the bit you are using. (This will allow the bit to transition to the next component) Then add a draft to the platform. (this will allow for a smo...

Re: King Neptune

Here is a carved plaque. I have an order for several more. It is only 10 X 16 X 3/8" and cut with a .093BN. I would have rather cut it with a .062 BN but the client wanted to keep the cost down.

Re: Without Music Life Would

No music major here but I believe flat notes are identified with hollow notes i.e. not solid and are reversed from what is shown. But my dyslexia could be kicking in.

Re: Failed to open file ... Code 10

Gordon do you have multiple versions of Aspire on your computer? If so, go to the file you want to open and right click then open with, select the top Aspire icon.
