Re: Top surface - mould machining questions.

Andrew, I've been giving your problem some more thought. I am assuming that you are carving a hollow mould for the top section of an aerofoil, and that you have a 3D CAD drawing of that aerofoil. If you take your CAD drawing and split it down a line - say 20% back from the leading edge - to create t...

Re: Top surface - mould machining questions.

Bump Lots of views but no replies? Any ideas people ? Maybe it's because we haven't found a way of doing it. :o I've hit the same problem as you and I tried using things like the roughing cut and finish cut to get two different tools but I couldn't. One way I have found of dealing with particular p...

Re: Picture frame question

hi dropout with vectorart3d files, i think yes, however we cant save outline vectors in files.. so i think it is not possible for users.. would be a way to make four of this frame, to cut on the corner to 4 separated pice... but that is just too complicated... I've actually done a similar job recen...

Re: Problem cutting shape

Hi Jim, Your tool (although very small at 0.6mm dia) is actually bigger than the whole bevel which is only 0.447 mm wide. I assume you have defined the block size to be the same size as the model? If you have, this means there is no room for the tool to move down the side of the model to machine th...

Re: Problem cutting shape

Jim, I may not fully understand what you are trying to do, but the positioning of the material in Cut3D and the positioning of your machine's 0,0 origin for cutting can be two separate things. Your first picture above shows the selected origin in Cut3D at the lower left of your model, so all toolpa...

Re: Problem cutting shape

BTW, is there any method of putting the piece at one edge of the material. When trying to increase material width earlier, I could only manage to place the piece in the middle of the material no matter what permutation of settings I attempted. This would allow me to make easier calculations of XY o...

Problem cutting shape

I am getting a problem persuading Cut3D to generate a shape for me. The shape is a bevel edge shown in the first picture. Page01.png When I get the length of generating the finshing tool path I get this Page02.png ...and when I display the tool path I get this Page03.png I've tried various permutati...
