Re: Dust Collector Mods

Update as requested...dust collector still working well. Not sure what else I can post in pictures - if you need something specific, let me know. We are preparing to move to a smaller place with (yikes) less shop space, so I may adapt this design to a smaller collection container. My other concern i...

Re: Good material for spoil board?

My two cents: mdf will move, even if you seal it...the location holes you drill, the nicks, etc., must be sealed quickly to keep moisture from getting in...plus you have to seal the back side. Still, mdf is my choice, as well. When I need to index a part on the second side, I cut the index holes for...

Re: Building a Tool Database

Believe me, without criticism or differing opinions there would be nothing left to learn and nothing to improve on .. when that day comes .. its time to look up to the heavens and say ... "Check please !!" Bob, Thank you for that. Along with that troublesome cnc stuff, sometimes we can get real lea...

Re: Prism Letters Issue

Make a copy of the letter, u, then cut the bottom and save it. Make two copies of this segment. Place the segments where you need the letters to flow, and use the merge command.

Congrats on another masterpiece. I think that young babe that plays one of these on you-tube needs to meet you...or maybe vice-versa.

Re: A-10 tank destroyer swing

I have a friend who flew an A10, "Warthog", as the nav-weaps officer - said it was slow and ugly but highly effective against ground targets in several mid-East garden spots. Your swing/model does it justice - good job. Re the sound effects, suggest you go to a toy store and find a toy with the righ...

It's A Bird, It's A Plane, No It's A Paradise Box Again

Just when you thought you were safe from another Paradise Box... This a present for Baby Charlotte who was baptized yesterday. I used a monogram font for her initials on the front. The inside of the top has her name, date of birth, and the date of her baptism. I made this box about a 1/4 inch longer...

Re: Award Plaque

So just to be clear,... you put a couple of coats of ploy on, the gel stain, and then poly again. I will so try that. Thanks. klw Keith - yes. For more info, the poly is thinned 1:1 with mineral spirits, which I wipe it on with a heavy duty paper towel. If you want your finish to be super smooth, y...

Re: Award Plaque

Thanks for the kind comments. KeithW - after wiping the gel stain, most of it is gone from the flat areas, although it still affects the color a bit. The gel stain in the lettering and the designs seems to set okay - I let that dry for 24 hrs, before continuing with the poly. I do not try to paint i...

Award Plaque

We are blessed by grandchildren that keep getting awards...so here is Grandpa's contribution to organization. It is made of African Mahogany. After two coats of poly thinned 50% were rubbed in, a cherry gel stain was applied and then wiped to fill the letters and the designs. Two more coats of thinn...
