IYWD, well you would carve out the lid like any carving and cut it out. Make sure the wood is thick enough for the carving. The box I made is roughly 6X5X3". The lid was 3/4 stock. The bottom is 6/4. But I just glued 2-3/4" pieces to make it that thick. I used the outline and offset the vector inwar...

Select the image on the vectorart3d site where you see the 3 style options and you'll see the selection for the outline. -AD

VA3D Scallop Shell Box

My first shot at a VA3D box. Really simple to do. Just pick a design that would be suitable for a lid and use the .eps outline on the VA3D site to make the box. The only hard part for me was making it a hinged box. A little trial and error but I was able to get it to work. Enjoy. -AD

The size of the carving is 13"x13". 3/4" thick oak. Left about 1/4" at the flat pocketed area. Everything cut nicely. No problems with the barbwire at all. All was roughed out with a 1/4" EM and finished with 1/16" ballnose. V-carve was a 1/2" 90° bit. Cut out with a 1/4" EM, although I wish I had a...

Importing Cut3D files into VCP4

I guess it's not possible to import front and back toolpaths in VCP4, like for the bowl, marlin, etc? Reason being is that I was hoping to be able to line up dowel holes with the carving to make registration a lot easier and accurate. Hmm.

You can either to it in VA3D Machinist first if you know how you want it to go under the "Orientate Model" section. Save it and import it into VCP. Or in VCP, under the edit vectors section, there is a "Rotate Vector" and "Mirror Vector" icon that should do exactly what you want. In VCP the actual 3...

Ronald, It can't be done right now, but in the next version of VCP you will be able to import a .stl file that have been saved as a .V3D file using Cut3D by Vectric. As far as I know, no other file extention will work except for .V3M which is VectorArt 3D Machinist file. VA3D will not open .stl file...
