Re: Increasing detail in 3D carve
Thank you I shall have a play when time allows. To get a feel for the difference in resolution of detail and carving bits, I did a small detail carving. I picked a small 3D from the clipart folder. It was something like 2"x2", and it didn't need a roughing pass. I carved that same example with 1/4"...

Re: Increasing detail in 3D carve
First it depends on how much detail is in the model to begin with. Setup a 1/32" BN and run the preview first using the 1/16" BN then the 1/32 BN and see if the change is worth the time. If you only want to detail a certain portion of the model using a 1/32" BN draw a vector around that area and us...

Increasing detail in 3D carve
Hi All,
I am using a 1/16th tapered ball nose bit and the results are good, if I do a second pass using a 1/32 BN will this improve the detail ?
If so do I need to do the complete area of the model again ? or is there a final pass that I can select ?
Thanks
Ron

Thank youdealguy11 wrote:No. If you project the pocket on the 3d model, the bottom of the pocket will not be smooth, so you will have difficulty gluing in the inlay.
Will try this on the weekend and see how it goes.

Pocket project on 3D or not?
Hi All,
I have the lid for a box and I am using walnut for the base of the lid and canarywood for the 3D moon.
I wish to inlay a 3D model of a wolf, question is when cutting the pocket for the wolf do I select project on to 3D in the pocket toolpath or not ?
Thanks
Ron

Re: Display Job Dimensions on Drawing Tab
I don't know what the issue is but it certainly isn't the resolution if you're running at 1080 vertical. I tried 1080, 1024 and 900. With the first two you can see the job dimensions no problem even with the taskbar locked on the bottom of the screen. With the 900 resolution you either have to have...

Re: Display Job Dimensions on Drawing Tab
oops I forgot to add that my version of VCarve Pro 9.512 displays the information however Aspire 9.518 does not.
I expect that this is because Aspire has more icons on the drawing tab than VCarve Pro ?

Display Job Dimensions on Drawing Tab
Hi All,
I did a search and only found that this information may not be displayed due to limited vertical resolution. I have a dell 17" laptop with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and the job information is not being displayed.
What is the resolution required to display this information ?
Thanks
Ron

Re: Tray for keepsake Box
Yes, that is very nice. Great job! Is that cedar? No this was just a test using pine before I use expensive timber Well shiver me timbers... that sure does look like Cedar. What stain is on that pine and how did you get it to look like Cedar? I am referring to the outside panels, not the inside or ...
