Re: Router Spindle wearing out too fast

wolfie... I ran across automatic tool changes for the kress line the other day and thought it was very interesting, the link is posted below. I like the idea because it is an affordable option for people with Kress spindles. Look on google for video for Kress ATC, or automatic tool changer, and you ...

Re: Self-Made Pressure Foot

Wollfie,

Here in the States there is a flashlight called a Maglight. Where the bottom unscrews and you put in the batteries, there is a spring that pushes the batteries for contact.
Looks like he removed this spring and used it.

Re: A faint bleat for help

If you just want to do the taper on the edge, just use a V-bit with the angle of taper you want. Draw a vector with the taper edge you want, and use a profile toolpath on the edge of the vector. I just took a 6 and sliced it, nothing fancy. This is what I do for tapers.

Re: Donek drag knife...other software vs Aspire 4

I do not think he is talking about the corners, they are the same loop. What he is talking about is the curvatures, like on the curvatures on the "B" Aspire does not compensate for the curvature , of the rounding of the "B". With a 1/8 offset or drag, the curvatures will be not be cut on the line, t...

Re: GoToZero

If you are using the basic screen set, and you do not use the "Auto Tool Zero" button in the tool information window. Raise your machine to where you want it to be, and hit the remember button. When you finish the job, hit the return button. It will return to where ever you told it to remember. It i...

Re: SIgn makers I need Advice on outdoor signs

Sorry for the time lag in my answer. Yes I shellac the whole sign, 2 coats, paint sticks very well, and hardens up the surface for nice carving. Most customer like the small knots they say it looks more "woodsy", not sure if that is a word or not, but it seems to be used a lot. The good thing about ...

Re: SIgn makers I need Advice on outdoor signs

2x4 or 2X6 cedar or redwood is the way I would go, it is 1 1/2 inch thick, turn each grain opposite, and use titebond II, or III. No biscuits, or dowels, although if it makes you feel safer, use them. The four bolts in the corners will keep it from warping and moving around and keep the wood solidly...

Re: Engraving brass

When you want to see how the grain of a raw piece of wood will look like after finishing, just wipe some denatured alcohol and it will bring the grain out. It will then evaporate and cause no stain to the wood. When I saw different logs to get a certain grain to match, it sure comes in handy to view...

Re: Kitchen Cabinet Software?

Cabinet planner has a whole house sample with all kinds of cabinets, you can look at each one and export it to a new file if you want, this will show you how each cabinet is made. It sure makes it easy to learn what kind of cabinet, you need and everything I have made with the program has been exact...

Re: Suggestions needed for how to cut this without blowing out

If you are not using a down cut bit, try it out and see if it is better.

or you might cut those areas at a slower IPM.

Re: Importing complicated patterns from Illustrator

It seems to me that some of the AI file is bitmap data and not recognized as vectors. If you save the file as a DXF, it is visible in Aspire.

Have you changed any settings in your Mach3, lately? Check you safe Z settings, and see if any thing is changed.

Re: Font problem

I like a customer who knows exactly what they want, no matter what they want, is usually very happy with the result, because that is what they see in their minds eye. You can always make suggestions and try to improve. But a customer who is not sure what they want, takes up a lot of time, and is nev...

Re: Change Default settings?????

I can get you closer but not exactly what you want.

As soon as you import, hit the "F" key, then use the center icon and it will usually get them close. It depends on how far apart they are when you start.
